Joe and I, along with other Texas Veterans, have been out at the cemetery
for the past two days, placing flags on the graves of veterans from all
wars. There is almost a 1,000 veteran's graves, at just one of our local
cemeteries. It's a sober reminder of why we have a Memorial Day and that it
isn't just about hotdogs and beer.

Saturday morning will be a Memorial Day weekend event at the courthouse here
in Breckenridge. There will be new names added to the Memorial that is
located on the Court House Square. We'll ride there, to show our support.

On behalf of myself and my club, the Texas Veterans Association, we'd like
to thank all of you who have served our country. We honor you and all those
    who have gone before you.

Stay safe this holiday weekend, and always.

  2. good on you guys. it's unfortunate to add new names, don't let them be
    lost for nothing.

~That is mighty thoughtful of you and Joe, to be part of such a
    patriotic celebration.
The Memorial Weekend is the ''summer
    water sport'' kickoff ya' know.
~And Labor day is the ''last weekend of water sports''-therefore the
lakes and rivers will be ''some bizzy places''.
~We, are riding to Hot Springs, Sat morning, to just mess around in that
old Arkansas town. Stay in a cute little place down town, and come home
Sunday, late. ~There's a lot to do and see. We'll ride up the tallest
mountain right there by the little town, and go up the sight seeing
Tower. ~Over all, we''ll not actually ride that many miles, but it'll be
fun, with our daughte and husband, on his 22,000 HD. (chuckle) Hope
everyone on here has a safe, but fun Holiday weekend! over? bjay~

Date has been changed to 10:00 a.m. Monday. I'll be there!

Thanks and their lives are not wasted on my account. I realized that our
freedom and safety are due to the brave men and women who have served,
fought and died for this country. We owe them our love and respect.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

    And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
    God bless the USA.

A few pics of the today's event.
    http://www.txvets.org/memorialday06.htm

Not many pics, as I didn't want to disrupt the ceremony,
which was very nice. There was a good crowd, better
    than last year's.
It began when the flag was lower to have mast, new names
read (deceased veterans and KIAs) and patriotic music filled
    the air.
Then the reading of the story of MSgt Roy Benavidez
    ( http://www.mishalov.com/Benavidez.html), brought tears to
    everyone's eyes.
The event closed with a 21 gun salute, the playing of Taps and
    a closing prayer.

God bless the men and women, who have made the ultimate
sacrifice for their country, their families and their faith and hopes.
God bless and protect those who have served... and now serve.
