Rumour is; the bloke was overheard saying that "Ayrabs weren't all bad."

Deserves everything that we can trump up about him I reckon.

  4. It was in this mornings Daily Lie^H^H^H^mail too.
I only know this as my Dad insisted on reading out all the lie^H^H^News
from it whilst I read the Guardian.

Re: the story, what utter waste of time and effort, there's got to be
more to it than reported. Like maybe the "guilty" party shagged a
    coppers missus recently or something.

It's fuckin' extreme but (on hearsay) seems typical of South Yorks Police.

Having no washer fluid in a vehicle equipped with wash-wipe is, IIRC, an offence,
    mind.

Well yes, it's certainly an MOT failure.

However, if you're sitting inside watching the TV, it's
highly unlikely to cause an accident, is it? I mean, he
wasn't driving it at the time, and who's to say that he
wasn't going to fill it up before he next used the car?

If they're going to start knocking on doors and checking
washer bottle levels, then there's going to be quite a
    lot of tax^H^H fines collected.

    Absolutely, nah, ferry nerf.

That aspect does sound a tad far fetched, however, from recent dealings
with certain constabularies, I wouldn't put it past them...

Typical Sun, they blank out his address on the fixed penalty picture,
but leave in his postcode visible :)

It's even an offence to not have any additive in the water too.

  11. Sadly, it seems to be true. I see that the local Chief Plod has decided
to scrap the fixed penalty and merely issue him with a caution - which
is still a fucking liberty, IMHO.

Can you *imagine* what it'll be like when we get these privatised
    plod-wannabees that JP mentioned recently?

I'd say there is more to that story than meets the eye. On the facts
presented it seems very odd. So much so, something has to be missing...

There is something *very* odd about this story and it just doesnt ring
true. Now if the person was one of those people who always have a
vehicle for sale outside their house but pretend to be private sales
and has sold a few dodgy vehicles (and reported it) then they would
have a power to inspect under reg 74.
And dangerous parts for a washer bottle??? More like a non-endorsable
fail to maintain - and that could only be used when driven - not when
    parked outside a house.
Methinks we are only hearing one side of the story here!

  17. There was a time when the police had to make an appointment to inspect
your vehicle and it could only be done so by a qualified mechanic. This
could be by-passed if it was believed that the vehicle was dangerous.

    When did this change?

  19. Oh arr, must be true, then. The BBC never lies, does it?

I think they gave him a ticket for scowling at them and being an ugly
    bastard in public.
