It's about 10 years since I read it. Perhaps they realised that it wasn't
    good for business!

Steve Morgan fascinated us all by saying...
I was the bloke who took on the widow[1] and 3 young kids under 5 years
old after an old mate died in a car crash. It's not easy having to deal
with a 2 year old who just can't comprehend that her Daddy isn't coming
home ever again. It's also not easy having to deal with the nightmares
that the inquisitive 4 year old has, nightmares about the time she snuck
down and sat on the stairs hidden while a police-woman was telling her
mother that her dad had been killed. On top of that, you have a little
boy, who has absolutley no memory of his father at all, cos he was only 4
months old when he died and plays his Mum and Dad's wedding video over
and over again just so he can see what he looked and sounded like.

Having said that, none of those kids ever made the slightest noises about
me riding a bike, despite knowing exactly how vulnerable I was when I
rode it. For the 6 years I brought those kids up, I did slow down and
took things a little easier, and my riding got better as a result. There
was always that nagging 'responsibility thing' going through my head, and
the thought that I might rob them of another dad should I end up Hovis. I
didn't want the kids to have that pressure put on them, now that they
were of more of an age to fully understand what had happened.

My eldest daughter, who rides a bike herself, is under no illusions about
the safety of our pastime. She knows the score, and has mentally prepared
herself for that day, which I hope never comes.

    [1] Now my ex.

I know that feeling, not that I want to endorse it as a safety feature
but since getting the Duc I find a lot more cagers get out of my
way[1] than get in it[1], it's not as visible[3] as your Pan but
    probably bit more audible <g>

[1] Pulling into kerbs and cycle lanes to let me pass.
[2] I still have some close shaves
[3] Mind you, some of these cnuts can't see my Granada coming down the
road, the ABS still gets tested.

  6. A work mate of my son went on a fortnights skydiving in the states with
a group of like mined souls from England.
They were all involved in two major plane crashes.
The reason they all survived, was that they were all packed in the
    aircraft so tightly.
As several of them had helmet cameras it made interesting viewing.

It's hard to get past the early stages on the static line progression
system, especially with the fickle weather here and it can a bit
clique-ee. It takes a lot of commitment, but the rewards of getting
onto freefall and then doing it with others are well worth the effort
    imho.

Would you consider it more or less dangerous than riding ?

Drop us an email if you want to get back into it.

Have jumped a lot in France over the last few years, it's aguably the
best in Europe if not the world, and i seem to recall there is some
form of government subidy going on. The French have fantastic
facilities and aircraft and, unsurprisingly, turn out world champions
much to the annoyance of the merkins.

If you're near Paris you must try out www.aerokart.fr, it is rather
    surreal.

    From http://www.cvn72.navy.mil/

In April 1995, Abraham Lincoln departed on its third Western Pacific
deployment. The ship made visits to Hong Kong and Singapore on the way
to the Arabian Gulf. In the Gulf, Abraham Lincoln lent support to
Operation Southern Watch in response to renewed Iraqi military
posturing. The Abraham Lincoln Battle Group also participated in
    Operation Vigilant Sentinel.

Upon returning from deployment, Abraham Lincoln left Alameda, Calif.,
for the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Wash. There the ship
underwent a one-year comprehensive overhaul including a period in
drydock. Following completion of the project, the ship moved to its
current homeport of Everett, Wash. Jan. 8, 1997.

    Quite a way from Newfoundland.
