Thinking of giving it up

Maybe you need to do a bit of riding for pleasure again. If all you're
giving up a tedious commute into work then it'll be a much easier decision,
it's not why you started riding it is?

Give up for your family but don't give up because you've lost the spark.

Yep but i have had far more incidents which are out of my control
riding, and i have many skydiving friends who ride who would say the
    same.

Whether any incident results in injury or worse has an element of luck
to it. That is what makes the road riding dangerous is the lack of
    control.

To add, had i had a similar incident on the road, and i prolly would
have at that age, i wouldn't be posting here simply because medical
attention should get to you faster in a controlled environment.

The problem with parachuting for me is that if you have an accident there's
a pretty good chance that it's the last accident you'll ever have and you'll
have a relatively long time to consider this.

Having said that I do want to do it, I'm just a chicken.

I did think that. Maybe do a track day with Team Suzuki at Mallory or
Haslams at Donnimgton or better still if Aprilia still do one at
Knockhill, wheelie school or a dirt bike day just something
    "non-road".
Heh, I parsed that as "Give up your family" which is of course, an
    option.

Any idea what bike death stats are like in Germany compared to this country?
I just wondered because I hear they actually make people learn to drive
(cages) properly before they're let loose on the roads...

Speak to someone that knows, do you have a specialised section that
deals specifically with fatal - expected fatal RTA's

In some, not all bike accidents if you compair them to a similar car
accident you may find that although the injuries may not be the same
    the final results can be.

In my case I was told that even if I had been in a small to medium
sized car there was a high probability that I would have been fataly
    injured.

If you realy want to be safe you want to drive a big rigid vehicle
with a heavy weight chassis, ie an 8 legger tipper.

Yep, T-bone a car at 60 mph with almost anything smaller than a
decient sized lorry is not good for your health.
Not bad physically, going stir crazy mentally.

I have now done my driving assessment and am awaiting results from
DVLA, with a bit of luck I may have some of my licenses returned
    before christmas.

  15. All of that sort of thing seems to be down to BMW/Merceces/SAAB drivers
around here. However, I wouldn't put it past drivers of newer, shiner
Audis than mine (I need something with greater carrying capacity than a
    bike).

Chris R was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
TBH I don't think they're that different, probably slightly
better. Same born-again and DAS heros that tend to litter the
    landscape.
They do the same with bikes, which is why I didn't get my bike license
until I moved to the UK because they are comparatively expensive.

Kev - yes, and I'm in it. I dealt with the accidents assisting the accident
investigators, so I have a better understanding of how the accidents
    happened.
