Thinking about making a run

    for Sheriff.
My notebook here is full of infractions and misdeeds that are currently
unpunished and overlooked by the current self-appointed Sheriff. Add to
this that certain officers appointed by said Sheriff seem to be
neglecting their duties, as ratings in TM are definitely lagging, and it
seems a change in leadership is due.
Also, the fact the the current Sheriff is self-appointed strikes me as
rather Communist, or at a minimum, third world.
I'll be running on sort of a Libertarian/Small Government
Republican/Andy Taylor type platform, whereby as Sheriff, I won't be
intervening in normal day to day activities, nor am I likely to be
doling out any ass-whoopin's or head slaps, (except in extreme cases
involving moonshining) however, I will instead be moderating disputes
over pie and coffee in Aunt Bea's kitchen. If after an extended period
of negotiation, a settlement cannot be reached, both parties will square
off in an old fashioned showdown, the winner being declared by high
score in American Chopper on the Playstation 2. Tickets to watch the
showdown will be sold to help defray the cost of the keg.
Thanks ahead of time for your vote.

Well damn.. why didn't you say so, in the first place, BiffB ? Dang, Bubba
you got the job.. Any way that I can help.. please feel free to call on me..
hmmm.. First piece of advice I'd give, would be to replace Bjay.. and, for
all these other no accounts that I've allowed to run rampant, you should
get them under control at first opportunity.. That's it at this time.. you
    can
be sure that my support is with you..

Now, let's all get behind this good man and make sure that he has all the
necessary co-operation that we can give him..

It's not a question of wanting to be a leader, so much as filling a need.

Speaking of needs, will you be available to sell hot links at the
    Showdowns®?

I'm just reminded of a couple of things that may have been overlooked
during our exchange on this matter..

There may just a bit of confusion about the offices in question..

Several years ago.. I was nominated for the position of Illustrious
Moderator for this newsgroup.. An election was forthcoming and as
we recall, I was elected to that office after a brutal campaign and
many recounts of the ballots.. The manager of my campaign, as you
may recall was a brother named IceMan, from Austin.. One of the
major contributors of that vigorous campaign was another brother,
JailCall.. There were many others who participated in the campaign
and subsequent election to office.. IceLady was the sister who was
in charge of all the vote counting and it was her conclusions of those
ballots which finally, firmly established me as the official Grand and
Exalted, Illustrious Moderator for this fine newsgroup..

So you see, there was an election and there wasn't any self proclaimation
involved.. Also it was not for the Sheriffs office..

I believe, after studious reflection, the confusion comes into play
because later I found it necessary to invade and occupy another
newsgroup .. The situation on the ground, there. made it necessary
for me to proclaim myself as the Illustrious High Sheriff of that group
    to establish law and order..

I'm sure that with careful deliberation and decorum, everything can
be sorted out and all confusion set aside.. In my opinion.. there is
no obstacle too great that our illustrious participants on this fine
newsgroup, cannot reconcile and resolve to the satisfaction and
benefit of everyone.. You can count on me for any support which
    will expedite this matter..

IceMan and JailCall sure ran a smooth campaign for me, alright..
Didn't hurt anything to have IceLady in charge of the vote counting
committee, either.. She did an excellent job..

But, if you recall.. that campaign was for Illustrious Grand Exalted
Moderator, and I was duly elected and sworn in.. The High Sheriff
deal was on Reeky.. I just invaded that bunch of flamers, surrounded
them and self proclaimed myself High Sheriff.. Took a while, but I
finally got law and order established . <sigh> Looks like they are
    getting out of hand, again..
