Yeah but they don't, and even if they do sometimes it isn't enough for all
my previous stated reasons based on observations: Filtering bikes/bicyles
can appear in the time taken to look in one direction- I've seen it happen/
You've also got tourists that can be momentarily confused by another road
system; distracted/drunk pedestrians; kids who haven't developed that degree
of personal responsibility, etc. These aren't reasons why drivers should be
liable but they are reasons IMO why we should be prepared for them, ie,
    because we know they're there.

I guess we both have our own opinions, I'm not convincing you,

The same one that pointed out that pedestrians in France always have
    right of way?

Hands up anyone who'd take up the offer of a pillion ride with Des.

And Des thinks he has a handle on logic.

How can there be no logical contradiction between someone always having
right of way, and not having right of way if with in 50m of a zebra?

But the judge needs to check his Shakespeare- that was King Lear, not
Hamlet (though Marcus Aurelius got there first).

Well I believe the frog highway code states (certainly the Swiss one
does) that a ped is not allowed to cross within 50m of a crossing, so
it would therefore be illegal to do so.

The first thing I do before I visit a country is bone up on their version of
the highway code just in case some dickless wonder almost runs me over
because he can't control his bike to the degree where almost stationary
    objects aren't a threat.

I haven't got a problem with that Ace, just that Des thought there was no
contradiction with that and a ped *always* having the right of way as he
    had previously stated.

Anyway, it matters not as I've kf'd the ignorant wanker.
