That should be enough to reduce pedestrian casualties to near enough zero.[/QUOTE] Yeah but they don't, and even if they do sometimes it isn't enough for all my previous stated reasons based on observations: Filtering bikes/bicyles can appear in the time taken to look in one direction- I've seen it happen/ You've also got tourists that can be momentarily confused by another road system; distracted/drunk pedestrians; kids who haven't developed that degree of personal responsibility, etc. These aren't reasons why drivers should be liable but they are reasons IMO why we should be prepared for them, ie, because we know they're there.
