  3. Ah, yes, sorry Bruce. (I think I've just done it again, too.)
    As you know, I do like to take care with my posts (hence my editing outadvocated a guideline of 72 chars in the past, though I'm by no means
    totalitarian on the subject. However, the occasion sometimes arises when
    a wrapped line allows the reader's eye to (subconsciously?) catch the
    continuation when you'd rather they'd have scanned the whole sentence first.
    In such a case, as above, I first of all sacrifice my usual <tab> at the
    beginning of each paragraph, and allow myself the full 80 characters of
    terminal width -- although preferably a few less. If the line is then
    less than about 76 chars, I allow myself the luxury of maybe 2 spaces
    indentation (as I believe I just did in the other post heretofore
    mentioned). If that doesn't work, I go back to my old standards and hope
    that most readers have imperfect peripheral vision...

    You can please some of the people some of the time, &c...
