Hmm. If I wanted a new retro bike, the Thrux would be high on the
list of candidates. There's a lot of pleasure also to be had in
having a bike that feels really fast, even though it's actually bloody
    slow, ie my Morini 350.

  3. I'm not the slightest bit surprised by that remark.
At present not a lot to be honest. I've never been interested in going
very fast on a motorbike. I think I simply like two wheeled machines -
    with or without engines.

See my reply to Ace. Again I would never expect to be of the same
opinion as you when it comes to speed and motorbikes.

  5. I miss the botafots. I could start a "Bikers Of The A Ninety Two", but
as one look at a map of southern Spain will tell you, that just isn't
going to work - unless for pure speed trials.

It's not on The Highway, or the A13, or the A12, or even the A40(M).

London is not normal when it comes to speed limits.

It's the "chicken-shit" newbies who get to stay alive long enough to get to
become the anti-social bikers who ride like lunatics.
Took me about five years (a long time ago). Stay safe.

I'll take that as a bite then. The concentration thing is age related in
burds, us blokes don't suffer from it having single track minds to start
    with and all.

true. However, I did buy something within a week or so of the funds
becoming available, which is somewhat unusual for me.

I drove along that a couple of weeks back. It's pretty boring, even
with being on the wrong side of the road.

I go along with this. I had as much fun on my Yammy AS3 at 16 as on any
other bike since. The only bikes I couldn't enjoy were 30mph "Sports
    Mopeds".

Thinking back to your 9R, was it (they) reliable, how are they for vibes and
what is the top speed? I presume the various models differ somewhat?

Monday on the way back from Snetterton, ZXR400 following ZX9R. It was
    a sublime ride.

Along the A11, filtering past the completely stationary stuff at
speed, then over taking regularly through the rest. Then onto MattG's
old home ground of the A14 up to the M1 and home.

At the A14/A1 junction roundabout the lights were green and I was
winding it on when something happened I didn't anticipate - Matt
showed some road sense and actually slowed to check to his right. So
from going at a reasonable pace, accelerating and starting to tip in
for a lovely left hand sweeper I was suddenly faced with a rapidly
approaching back tyre that hadn't fucked off into the distance. One
    rather lovely rolling stoppie followed.

No that's fine thanks. I tried Frag's with Gilles bars and raisers and I
recall Lozzo/Bee's with the high screen fitted. With both it would be a
pretty acceptable sprotbike for those with spinal probs. They are cheap but
not giveaway, cheap enough for a visit to Maxton for front/rear sorting. I
dare say the engines can be made to breath better too.

Did you get the carb icing problem?

If you're thinking of getting one, or know someone who is, mine *may*
be on the market within the next few weeks. It's a '98 C1, 30K, needs
new rear shock for anyone wanting to ride in a "spirited" manner.
    Around ukp2K probably.
I did, but I had the mod done, and then decided that riding in
conditions that made carb-icing a problem was too cold anyway!

My C2 had the plumbed in warming thingies and it never suffered from
icing. I've only experienced that once, on my second ZZR1100 while
    trying to join the motorway.
