    OK. Truce extended.
    Yes, we all are.
No comment, as I don't diss people, unless you count the times I defend
myself or others that I respect highly. One thing I do, in a joking
manner is chase away Brits. It's a fun pastime when you are from
    Belfast. :)
I have cross posted by accident several times without even realizing
it, but I'm not sure why this is an issue at all? I only mentioned it
in reply to you saying that I cross post to a bazillion groups. If you
look at my profile you'll see that that's just not possible. I only
belong to 9 groups (I believe) and only post to two mainly. I'm so new
to newsgroups, it's pathetic. Just joined them a little over a month
ago, maybe two. I had to defend myself a lot in some other groups...you
mentioned the tough one earlier. But I persisted, if that's what you
    mean by flame, then okay...
I'm glad you got that resolved, it did seem they had stopped. But why
are you here if it's so boring? You don't have to expound on that
either, it just seems a tad ironic. I suppose all the posts attributed
to your current profile are forged by that H**d** character and so they
probably aren't yours at all.... pity they did such a number on you.

Some of us are closet celebrities, you may be surprised. ;-)

That's odd because Turby just said that you are always spot on in your
posts here....so I guess I'm a little confused but no need to explain
    further.
Yes, you did appear OFTEN in the group, with H**d** behind you, it was
a constant thing....never let up, but now we know it was never actually
you. You also appeared often in the Harley group too.

You might also be surprised that the sportsbike group does not consist
only of kids with fast go bikes. And, some people are in the group for
other reasons. Seems you may have a misconception of who actually rides
sportsbikes these days. My sister was killed on one April 20, 2006 and
I'm guessing she was probably older than you. That's what brought me to
this group....to try to understand how it happened.

And since you are the President of that club with some people with
amazing credentials, do you know Stan Berde, per chance?

Interesting, because I'm about 7th generation Irish/American and
proudly display shamrocks on my bikes. You and I can tell Irish jokes
-- anyone else tell those jokes, and they'd better be wearing their
    iron-reinforced jock straps ;)

I happened to see the thread on Mexico and it caught my attention. I
do scan every so often. Travel and particularly Mexican travel are
    major interests of mine.

Turby seems to be a nice guy and presumably he has a better memory than
I do. I do try to stick to just technical and on-topic stuff in the
motorcycle newsgroups although the urge to stray is powerful ;)

I'm not familiar with Stan but Googling him he seems to be quite
    accomplished.

Peace once again. Once upon a time Usenet (newsgroups) were a place to
learn and make friends and contacts. It's a pity that it has
deteriorated to the point where we have flame wars, weird politics, and
so forth. Personally, in a motorcycle group I just want to learn about
riding and places to see. Call me silly ;)

    well thank yew miss boo.
Here is my rule on jerks... they dont even have to mess with
me. if is seem them being either just plain idiots or..jerks
or worse... ahhh kill files em... it has never bothered me.

well at first it did because I cared that they might say I had
2" dick or something and that I wouldnt be there with a photo
scan of my organ to PROVE otherwise.

these days I dont care.. and it is unfortunate as occasionly
some ruthless jerk will have some insight I need, such as
about traveling in mexico and how bad the AIDS epidemic is
with the young ladies of the evening.

Mostly though that type just xcrews up my sense of humor and
thats bad for business especially at my age and in such bad
condition that I need a step stool to get on the flat tracker.

    ahh... yes.. the evidence mounts.

This NG was infested like that about 5 years ago... but
somehow they got embarassed out of here...one remains but I
dont see his posts, others nail his ass for me on occasion...
a few others think that such abuse is funny...even as he
clipped a guy on the track out practicing slow lines causing
him to crash at 90... then bragged about it......

the guys with real accomplishments, ex jet pilots, seriously
heavy tech guys...guys that survived wrecks that would kill
most...etc.. actually smart guys and fast on a bike ..are also
    decent as a rule...the occasional barb...when it fits..but
    good to talk to.

thats how it is with racers too... the best with rare
exception are real nice people... some are about as humble and
polite as you can imagine off the track........ on the
track... absolute winning competence..ruthless almost but
thats the wrong word... , same with truly successful business
    men who did it honestly.

Men confuse me at times too Turby. So, I'll reserve the right to
    confuse you, but without malice.

In my very short time on usenet, the PJ - Hoodoo war was a very
prolific spamming thing...if I'm using the wrong terminology here about
that then....yeah, no argument there, I'm new to this and I fully admit
it. And, yep, I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to
    usenet.

Hypberbole...or just rephasing? Depending on what part of the country
or what country we are from? We tend to use different terms. I say
driving around and some people say riding around. Some people say Pop,
some say soda. But didn't mean to change the meaning of your statement.

Thanks for the info. Obvious to the people who know better. To someone
    new, I guess that's a different story.

As for Phil...maybe I should have said "my own"...like Mr. Bags and a
few others, he's been good to me from the beginning. I can't speak for
Reeky and am not trying to. That post came to the sportbike
group....through cross posting, and that's what I responded to. And
I'll stand up for Phil and Bags, and those others, any way you dice it.

What the handbook won't tell you. Say this, "Is there any way I can just
pay you the fine instead of going down to the station?"

    Works for me!

Most traffic fines run around $20US. In Tamaulipas the state goverment
has taken to printing up a booklet that mentions the range of fines
(there is a discount for early payment!) and has the phone number of a
tourist ombudsmen to call if you feel like the friendly ossifer is
trying to take advantage of you.

In Monterrey the traffic cops, which have a fearsome reputation among
the locals, have the fines written on the rear windows of many of the
    cop cars. Photo at
    http://www.fototime.com/A4482006AEC3DF7/standard.jpg . It's hard to
read, but the maximum fine was something like $37US, and that was for
    sassin' the ossifer.

So I wouldn't exactly say that the day of the shakedown is dead, and
let's face it -- small time Mexican cops can make Barney Fife and
Mayberry look professional -- but things have changed a lot in the last
    10-20 years.

I was hanging with some gringo sailers one night who were demonstrating
that they did indeed get loud and obnoxious when loaded (and that will
certainly get you in trouble in Mexico; being a happy drunk is one
thing but mean and rude is bad news). Anyway, they had been relieved
of about $45 the night before by the same downtown Tampico cops that
had happily given me directions to the bars (blasted bars downtown
closed up for New Years -- can you believe it!). Even the sailers had
to admit that after they got rousted that the cops put them into the
car and drove them to the closest bar to get them off of the streets.
Let's face it -- $45 for the pair of them, and that included the fine
and cab fare. That's not bad at all.
