There's something wrong with my Norton

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Wicked Uncle Nigel, Jul 28, 2007.

  1. I went out for a trundle earlier, and very nice it was too.

    But there's a problem. There's no way it'll do 140 MPH.

Do you think Weggy's flogged me a dud one?

I guess you've got a Reasonably Put Together model as opposed to the
    Well Screwed Together special edition.

Greybeard would have contributed some wit and wisdom, but his bike would

_many_ years ago when I used to fix the little rascals, there was many a
    tale of 120+!
The thing that surprised me most about these tales of rocket propelled
Norton's was, that the guy's managed to stop the bloody thing and tell the
    tale!
Getting 120+ wasn't too much of an issue, hauling the chunk of iron back
down to walking pace was more of a problem though.

I was in the company of several Notruns at yesterdays shite-old-triumph
    do.

My outrider (a damned bokker) did not know what a Commando was, so I
    enlightened him.
There were various flavours, including those what proudly proclaimed
"electric start", and a yellow one with a ducks arse and high level
    pipes (750 "s" IIRC).

Having explained to my associate that an acquaintance of mine had
replaced his freshly disastered Vmax with a Commando, all I got was a
    quizzical look, and a "why?".

I had no answer for him.

Damn. Mustn't ride those rocket propelled Norton's, when one has had too
    many Hobgoblins.

Don't know WTF happened there then?
