Went to took at the SO Guzzi yesterday. It was a pile of poo -- a street-fightered 750 Targa. It was very cheap indeed so I did a deal. Pix on Wednesday. Doesn't need too much work to get it road legal and useable. One tyre valve and a pair of pattern silencers [1] should do it -- oh, and the tacho cable's shagged[2]. [1] It has a *very* loud competition zorst ATM. I'll /try/ an MOT with them on. [2] They all do that, sir.
Nice one. It would have had to be quite cheap I'd think. Techo? Who needs a tacho anyway, my Bandit one, for some reason, varies between 3500rpm and 4000rpm. It does go down to 0rpm, but only when I thrash it.
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Muck They all do that sir. Just before they blow up. It's the oil feeds clogging up. The first thing to go is the feed to the tacho drive, followed by the big ends. -- Nigel - Manufacturer of the "Champion-105" range of rearsets WS* GHPOTHUF#24 APOSTLE#14 DLC#1 COFF#20 BOTAFOT#150 HYPO#0(KoTL) IbW#41 ZZR1100, Enfield 500 Curry House Racer "The Basmati Rice Burner", Honda GL1000K2 Kawasaki ZN1300 Voyager "Oh, Oh, It's so big"
Nigel Eaton says... Blimey, they have a tiny tacho cable, it's almost as small a diameter as ....well....electrical wire.
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Lozzo That's the problem, you see. If it was any bigger it'd be OK. But once it's clogged, the big ends are on their way out. Mark my words mate, Muck wants to get that engine stripped down completely and cleaned out ASAP. -- Nigel - Manufacturer of the "Champion-105" range of rearsets WS* GHPOTHUF#24 APOSTLE#14 DLC#1 COFF#20 BOTAFOT#150 HYPO#0(KoTL) IbW#41 ZZR1100, Enfield 500 Curry House Racer "The Basmati Rice Burner", Honda GL1000K2 Kawasaki ZN1300 Voyager "Oh, Oh, It's so big"
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Muck Ah well, it was worth a try... -- Nigel - Manufacturer of the "Champion-105" range of rearsets WS* GHPOTHUF#24 APOSTLE#14 DLC#1 COFF#20 BOTAFOT#150 HYPO#0(KoTL) IbW#41 ZZR1100, Enfield 500 Curry House Racer "The Basmati Rice Burner", Honda GL1000K2 Kawasaki ZN1300 Voyager "Oh, Oh, It's so big"
Heh, I've seen most of the insides on my Bandit lump, and replaced one or two broken internal bits too, plus the usual servicing stuff.
I'm quite chuffed, as it happens. It's not needed at all, really. I've looked op the specs and the max torque of the motor is @ 3K FFS! If the tacho dial's there, it might as well work though.
3K, gawd.. I wish. My latest bike has a max torque at 10K, I'm glad the tacho works on that as it's quite a peaky little motor.
