That wasn't a Grand Prix, it was a rally.

The only important GP today is on now at Laguna Seca.

Except that it was F1 and it was at the Nuerbergring

As bad as the other day when someone said that jumping 15metres off a
cliff - they could reach 70mph

not physically possible (on earth), is it

  5. 15 m vertically or horizontally?
Neglecting air resistance, if they jumped 15 m horizontally from
the top of a _50_ metre cliff they could do it with a bit to spare.

Is that what you call lateral thinking?
You could still exceed 70mph by just falling off the same cliff.
Perhaps we could find a couple of scooters to test the theory.

Although not explicitly stated, implicitly implied ...

    Downwards, of course

And I'm sure you could also work out using parabolix whether it's
possible to actually jump 15m horizontally in a 50 m drop

Would not the question be to work out the initial horizontal velocity
needed to jump 15M horizontally in a 50M drop?

11mph according to my back of an envelope calculation.

And is that the most efficient way of doing it? What if the
horizontal velocity was partically converted to an upward component at
the point of take off assuming: a) Normal person; b) Olymic trained
    long-jumper?

You want to know the most efficient way of killing someone?
It probably isn't getting them to run and jump off a 50m cliff in a vacuum.
