I dropped my son off at the dentist. I knew he would only be there for 10 minutes, but I parked in the car park, paid my 50p and sat in the car waiting. After 5 minutes a car park attendant appeared and started looking at the tickets. He checked mine out and moved on. I noticed a woman with a young boy leave the dentist where my son was and start running to her car. The attendant was two cars away writing a ticket. I opened my window just in time to hear the woman say, 'but ~I was only here for 5 mins!' In a lot of cases I feel its the driver who is to blame for being stupid!
Don't park illegally, don't get a ticket, don't give them either the pleasure or the bonus. If they still issue one when you are sure your parking is still legal, follow the approved procedure for appealing. If you are right, you will win. Most parking tickets challenged because they were illegally issued, or issued legaly, but not by the correct procedure are often immediatley withdrawn by the court.
I wish. I got nicked for parking on a pavement, and appealed. 'Pay up, ****' was the reply. I'm waiting for them to send me the 'penalty' amount, and I'm appealing directly to the Préfet.
It was in Paris. Parking is 'tolerated', and has been since 1984, as long as the pavement is more than 1.6m wide. The one where I got nicked was fucking 53m wide ... url:http://fr.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/coughlandesmond/album?.dir=bfd9&.sr c=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//fr.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/coughlandes mond/my_photos
And was parking on the pavement permitted there either during metered time, or during certain hours? Was this in the UK?
Presumably "illegal but not normally enforced" then? -- Alex Hermes: "We can't afford that! Especially not Zoidberg!" Zoidberg: "They took away my credit cards!" www.drzoidberg.co.uk www.sffh.co.uk www.ebayfaq.co.uk
Parking on the pavement (in France) is tolerated, but illegal. http://www.ffmc75.org/article.php3?id_article=134

Tony gets lots of pleasure from his hobby and his profits will rise when it gets a bit warmer. I imagine Epping Forest is a bit parky at this time of year.
