On Sunday I had the 'plearure' of looking over osme kids RS50.

He'd just bought it 2nd hand, and wanted a hand with patching some pre
    smashed plastic up.

I noticed or two other things in the first 10 seconds. Bald tyres, shagged
rear wheel bearings[1], part of the seat missing, no air box[2],
completely shagged out chain[3], snapped off speedo cable[4], tiny rear
plate with amazing cut down L plate[5].

Although I don't wish any harm on the chap, I do wish that his 'bike'
would die quickly[6], so that it gets this little death trap off the road
before it kills him at the 70 or so mph he said he got out of it down that
    big hill.

[1]Rear wheel moves side to side about 1cm at the rim.
    [2]Replaced with clamp on.
[3]Really rusty / loose chain with sharp teeth on the rear sprocket,
    adjusters maxed out.
[4]Snapped off in the speedo, bent at 90 Deg.
[5]With carbon look stick on stuff round the outside.
[6]He runs it on the cheapest 2stroke oil, so it may die quickly anyway.

  2. I hate to say this, but it sounds like every other Fizzie or AP50 from
my generation, back in the mid-1970s. Possibly in slightly better nick,
    even.

Tch! I was about to type almost the same thing.

Well, except for the carbon look-alike stick on stuff.

    Gawd...

I must have been the only yoof[1] with a legal road worthy bike then. The
sheer fuckwitness of this bloke did stand out to me for some reason.

[1]In my yoof I was a bit sensible though.

Get him! He's Stolen your grumpy old geezer-ness before you even had
    chance to use it.

Oh yes... and serviced, even cleaned[1].

[1]I guess I was slightly keener then.

    :p

The think is, that he's a nice geezer, and I wouldn't want him to end up
under a lorry because of a snapped chain or some other breakage. Plus, if
he'd asked someone else to have a look at it before he bought it, they
would have advised him to walk away.

Ah, now that would have been an interesting iRide on my Fizzie, even
downhill with the wind behind me :)
