I wasn't in the least bit surprised after seeing the same comments made
by said person following the killing of the kids in the Amish school.

I'm with you on Benn. It wasn't that long ago he was a raving clause
four socialist, advocated unilateral disarmament, publically supported
Sinn Féin the list goes on.

Just recently the world has changed: Socialism has gone away,
unilateral disarmament is a credible position.
His views on currently important events are spot on in line with my
own and I respect him massively for integrity and a clear thought
process. Top bloke now and has been for 10 years or so IMHO. ...but
    not before.

We go back 400 years, as you must know.

We're your children! Daddy! Granted, we committed patricide 169 years
later, but still. I think you're still touchy about that. Next time you're
over here be sure to visit Jamestown and Williamsburg.

  7. Oops, let that one slip through...
I couldn't be bothered googling. I'd read it again just lately too,
when Byng's sister's descendants were trying to get him a pardon.

That worked, even though I had to listen to it at the same time.

I've converted it to an MP3 and uploaded it to ukrm-nova.

No, certainly not. Shunted off by their gullible government to support a
devious and corrupt US government, because of the spurious domino theory
which held that, otherwise, screaming hordes of Commies in pyjamas were
going to come wading ashore in Darwin. Yeah, right. Sort of like those who
died 'for the Empire' in WW1.

And, no, I'm not forgetting WW2 but I hope you'll agree that that one really
    was rather different.

  12. It is, quite simply, legal over here. The rule is that anything is legal

I always worry when filtering past police cages. Today was such a day,
but at the point I passed the vehicle the A14 traffic was totally
stationary. I do wonder at what traffic speed they'd start getting
    grumpy at bikes filtering.

I generally only start filtering at about 40 or below, but I have a
sort of hysteresis in that I'll keep filtering until I'm doing up to
about sixty, though this depends on how aggressive I'm feeling.

I'd love someone to do a British remake of Iwo-Jima... The yanks
(Hollywood) did a remake of a submarine movie and the enigma machine,
without the Brits and with the yanks as the heroes... The remake of
I-J would have the cowardly yanks hiding in thier foxholes and the
brave British heroes winning the day and hoisting the Unionjack on top
    of the mountain...

    Do wonders for Anglo-US relations...

Hey, its just a film, chill out, man...

Is the correct answer.. well done that Older Gent.

Don't fret. Generally as long as the traffic is moving slowly, and by
that it is taken to mean significantly slower than the posted limit, then
filter away. As long as you're not enough of a mickey taker to filter and
exceed the limit whilst whizzing past a police car, everyone I work with
really wouldn't bother. Usual caveats of driving with reasonable care, not
dangerously etc. Not wheelie-ing whilst giving the middle finger salute
    is also a good idea.

Usually I get concerned if someone blats past the marked car at
enthusiastic speeds having not apparently seen the bleeding great big BMW
with all the battenburg, lights and cheesed of Traffpol contained within.

Don't forget, the vast majority of the TraffPol are bikers themselves, and
would very probably love to be hooning a bit themselves at that point,
rather than stuck in the car.

One thing that does make me giggle a bit. If I'm out on the work bike, I
don't really do the whole fast filter thing. (Got to do the whole "sedate
example" thing.) Added to which our bikes are a bit bigger than most on
the road, and it's also a bleeding nightmare of bureaucracy if we have even
a minor scrape. So, in the interests of "not being a git" I will slot
across to allow mr and mrs J Public to filter past me. In most cases I
also have to somewhat enthusiastically wave the bikes through, as I don't
think people can really comprehend a large fluoro person encouraging
filtering. Oh, and I still maintain that if you saw how much crap we have
to wear, you'd understand why we look so, er, filled out on the bikes. It
was the body armour wot done it, honest. Nothing to do with almost being
entitled to a bulk buy discount at Greggs or Percy Ingle!

If you think the Yank's impression of how the Enigma machine was
captured was a bit iffy, there's an old Errol Flynn movie about how the
Yanks won Burma back from the Japs. When it was released it caused so
much uproar it swiftly got pulled from all the cinemas.

Don't need any excuse as such. Road Traffic Act, S163. Can stop any
vehicle to check licence/insurance/MOT. If it's for riding like a "bit of
a tit", then that's what I'll tell you. Don't need to make anything up!
Rarely used now since Insurance and MOT details can be accessed via PNC.
Usual rule of thumb applies when stopped. Act in the manner you would
like to be treated. This, of course, cuts both ways. It's a rare thing
indeed to be inconvenienced just to "piss you off" if you have been the
model of decorum throughout. (Before anyone starts, I said rare, not
impossible, and yes, I know that you probably know someone who has a tale
of woe. I have a few myself, being as I never show out if stopped off
duty. TraffPol, are, in the main, absolutely fine. It's usually a
clueless probationer who thinks they know it all who get all out of the
    sand pit)

Off out of this one now. Flying overseas in the morning for a week. (To
    Merkinland, as it happens!)

Hope those who are going have a great BOSM.

    Peace
