The wedding

Even over here it dominated the telly. I was stuck watching
Hitchcock's North by Northwest.

 

I upgraded a laptop to Natty Narwhal ubuntu -- which promptly broke!
Had to set it to "Ubuntu Classic (no effects)" to stop the screen flashing
and X taking up 80% CPU. Seems compiz is the culprit; if I pkill that in
Classic it becomes stable too.

For our part SWMBO was working (Sherwood Forest) but by lunchtime they
had seen barely a soul, so she volunteered to be one of the staff sent
home.

We went out to Worksop and had a pleasant walk along the Chesterfield
Canal from the Norwood Tunnel end - woods carpeted in wild garlic.

Judging by the increase in traffic on the roads, the remaining staff at
Sherwood will have been rushed off their feet!
