  2. Well, that's just daft. One on-topic post
in 78 - when do we ever reach those dizzy heights?

Hah! You forget that on ukrm there's never been such a thing as "off
topic" [1], so everything must be on topic. Logic, see.

[1] although I assume the OT that some newbies put in the headings of
some of their posts is supposed to suggest this

It's just good netiquette. Most groups are not as tolerant of "off
topic" as UKRM. As I see it UKRM is a virtual pub, frequented by many
    and conversations as applicable.

Othergroups however, are much more topic specific and prefer to remain
that way. OT: as a subject prefix allows the militant to filter out
posts they don't want to see. No different from FS: or FT: etc etc.

Elsewhere, yes. I was speaking solely of ukrm.
I was aware of this. However, not having to decide whether a given
post is on or off topic is, IMHO, one of several aspects that makes
ukrm stand head and shoulders above all the other, lesser, groups.

Easy now - you'll get this group a reputation for being irreverent...
or was that irrelevant; I forget.
