The truck decision

  1. Not sure of the rules today, but in Victoria years ago, the mudguard had to
come down level with the axle
As most of the bikes had shortened guards, Peter Stevens came up with the
idea of hanging a rubber Peter Stevens mudguard from the tip of the metal
    guard, which overcame the problem

What the hell is a tail-tidy?

  3. I certainly don't miss the weather. I remember last time I was over I borrowed
a mates bike and had to scrape ice off the seat to sit on it. Not something I
would ever have to do in Perth.

Tail tidies are a big target here for the cops. It's gotten so bad a bike
forum I am on has a register of people with standard mudguards that people can
borrow to go over the pits. Ridiculous.

  5. In WA the mudguard has to extend 45 degrees of the rear wheel. Shorten your
    mudguard and you get pineappled.

    I've never understood "tail-tidies".
Mudguards didn't just form as some sort of by-product of the
manufacturing process. They are there to guard the rest of your bike
from mud, dirt and crap. I just think "wanker" when I see a
    mudguardless rear......

..... and when I see tiny short-stalk indicators....
....and when I see indicating tail-lights...
....and when I see coloured fairing screens....
....and when I smaller morrors and a host of other "make your bike less
functional for looks" mods that the kiddies do to their bikes.

It started with people trimming the large, often ugly rear plastic
mudguards and progressed to relacing the stock blinkers with neater,
    smaller ones.

The long mudguards are often no longer functionaly needed with huggers
    available for many bikes.

Now there are whole kits called 'tail tidies' to make the job easier.

  10. A wanker wouldn't see anything in the mirror, cuz he would have gorn
blind, just as the Sunday School Teacher always warned would happen if
    you did that.

A fender eliminator doesn't normally have blinker mounts.
