The test non-ride

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Zebee Johnstone, Nov 25, 2006.

  1. The obvious alternatives are (in no particular order)

    BMW R1200GS (standard)
    BMW F650GS
    Triumph Adventurer
    Suzuki DL1000

Go and test ride them :)

Um, you mean the Triumph Tiger and the KTM Adventure, right, GS? :)

  3. That was the same reason I made a mistake in buying an R1100GS, it seemed
fine on the test ride, handled well etc. The next day after an hour in the
saddle, I had a sore back and a sore arse. Just a bike that didn't fit me.
I sold it after 6 months cause I just couldnt ride it any distance.

I've taken a bunch of Ducatis out on a ride day with the local dealer without
this hassle. A disclaimer for the first $1,000 damage and show up with
license, gloves, helmet, boots. That was all they needed. Sign up for each
bike on the roster for the day and off we went. I took four different bikes
out over the day, although the rides were all supervised follow-the-leader
    stuff.

And the new model Tiger is out and Triumph had done a good job. It
doesn't look nearly as awkward as the previous models.

  7. It's now a straight roadbike though Nev. It's a Multistrada competitor now
not a BMW-GS and KTM competitor. 17" alloy wheels aren't real dirt
friendly. Better for the Euro market though as a pretend dual purpose bike.
Looks like a comfy tourer though.

Pity Procycles doesn't sell Moto Guzzi. I have had several long rides up
the old road on expensive BMWs (HP2 being the most fun). Just be back
before we close is their usual remark.
