Spoilt my continuous run of MoT passes today. The refurbished SO Morini
failed on rough front wheel bearings. I couldn't feel any play in the
wheel, but on giving it a spin I had to agree that the speedo drive side
rumbled a bit. I thought it might be just the worm gear for the speedo
being a bit worn. It is on the original 30 year old Italian bearings
TBF. The good news, on extracting them I find they are very common
fitment 6203 deep groove ball bearings so no problem sourcing
replacements. Not sure whether to go for stainless steel double rubber
sealed ones or stick with 'ZZ' metal shielded as fitted originally.

Go with the rubber sealed ones, stick to a decent make like SKF, NTN and
    don't bother with stainless steel.

Logical. It's not as if it's grinding rice or any other food process. A
pity FBC (acquired by Fafnir) aren't still in business.
