    Ben Blaney left a note on my windscreen which said:
    No. In this context it was used to indicate my comment was intended as
    a light hearted retort rather than an offensive attack. I understand
    that probably most in here would see any such remark in it's correct
    context anyway but a minor symbol is hardly much effort to make the
    point particularly clear for other, perhaps more sensitive, readers.

    could otherwise be interpreted as humerous [1]

    OI. **** off, willyer. A true Ace wouldn't (didn't/doesn't) even know

    That's how I use them. I also use them in the kind of situation where
    you'd say something with a smile on your face, 'cept it loses it's
    meaning somewhat if you write with the smile on your face because only
    you know it's there.
