The Rotter will be in town

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Baron Von Rotter, Jan 7, 2004.

  1. Von Rotter will be in Canberra from 11 Jan - to probably 18 Jan 03.

Will either be on the Zed or taking the velocoraptor (depends on the
    forecast)

BTH? dinner at the southern cross club some time?

Sounds good to me! Your turn to arrange the event is it? ;-)

(Sorry for the delayed reply, I've been at BT Land for the past week
and I don't have any net connection out there yet).

Is "BT Land" Tarago's answer to "DisneyLand"? Does this mean that work on the motocross track is progressing well?? :)

(just make sure it's ready by Easter!)

Just so that I can get this straight in my mind, youse guys want me,
    the guy who:

    Doesn't own a dirt bike;
    Has no interest in dirt bikes;
Gets irritated by his neighbours when they spend entire weekends
    repeatedly bloorting around the same 1km loop of bush track;

....to build a motocross track on my land so that you can come out to
disturb my peace and tranquility by spending entire weekends
repeatedly bloorting around the same 1km loop of bush track?

    I don't see it happening! :)

It might be an interesting challenge that, building a motocross
    track.

Ya know that to make a really good one, you've gotta scientifically
calcumalate it so that you get a different number of 'o's in each
blooooort... section, and a different number of 'ing's in each
ningningningning... section, just to keep it interesting.

Just like building golf courses, only crunchy.

As our resident mathematician BTH should have no trouble performing the
calculations, but the 'o's probably will turn out as zeros.

It's not as if either you or Conehead would have made it anyway! Gary
managed to see the post and bring his latest blond nursie along
    though... ;-)

Oh, I'll be in Brisbane for work-related purposes from the 21st to the
30th of January. I think I've convinced them that it'll be cheaper to
pay me some Motor Vehicle Allowance and let me ride up there this
    time... :-D

You need to buy a dirt bike!
That'll soon change - once you've bought a dirt bike!
You can get revenge - once you've bought a dirt bike!
Well, once you've bought a dirt bike and realised the error of your ways, it wont be so annoying, will it?
    oh ye of little faith!

  11. Well, since golf courses should be motocross tracks, anyway, isn't it kinda
    the same thing?

A red letter day in the land of the Southern Cross, as we filed out of
the club, a spontaneous game of swapsies ensued as several people ripped
around the block not on their own bikes.

This led to two major firsts for me: the first time I've ridden a
Kawasaki, and the first time I've ridden the Jackal. It's something like
15 years since I rode a 250, and I didn't have time to get used to the
idea that when you open the throttle, practically nothing happens. I had
to wring it out a couple of times to ensure it was functioning as
designed, but that didn't provoke quite as much mirth as the times I
poked the horn button instead of the indicator switch. Good Jackal,
    don't bite me please!

Eventually everyone bolted, and I took Viv home for a cup of tea, a Bex,
and a good lie down. Thanks to BVR for gracing us with his presence, BT
for a staggeringly untimely invitation, and the massed company of
aus.motians and affiliated hangers-on. Must do it again some time!

I rode the Jackal last year and I enjoyed it immensely!
(I think I've just got a bit of a perverted love of beasties performing
well, well outside their design criteria)

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it (it is still a motorcycle!), but I'd
want to do more than 300 metres around the Southern Cross Club to
appreciate the Jackal's finer points. Another time perhaps; it took BT at
least 10 seconds to pass up a ride on my Batwing.
....and I was thinking, hey, it's nearly as old as my Beemer!

While we're telling "I rode The Jackal" stories.... I rode The Jackal fully
loaded (the bike not me.. I was only early afternoon) about 300 metres along
the dirt track from the campsite to the campground entrance at Wintersun last
    year.
