Lake Texoma Damn, will let more water out today-July 10th-07.

The huge amount of water, will move towards us at about 25mph. We can
expect to get possibly 10-12 inches in the Red River bottoms north and
west of TKana, by Friday, Leary area.

We were flooded, under these same circumstances in May of 1990. The
difference is the amount ''then'' let out by the Corps of Engineers, was
6 times more, than what they'll do today.

(note; They'll only let our 25000 cfs gallons, yes only that
    much...grin)
(compared to 114000 cubic feet per second, in 1990)

The Flood of 1990, caused 3 feet of water, in the same lowlands/bottoms.

That year, I had a friend who got 3 feet of water in his lovely Adobe
Style Home sitting on 640 acres of bottom land west of Texarkana, around
    Leary.

Thank goodness I'm on a Hill.

When the "Mighty Red" goes on rampage, there's hell to pay, for sure..
That bad boy takes land by the tens of thousands of acres and more.. It cuts
new banks and it's own river routes.. Hundreds of thousands of acres of land
will be affected, because it doesn't just recede back to previous avenues..
<sigh> That river is a prime example of nature at it's worst.. Been there,
    done
    that..

Bjay Here: Yeah, that big old Red is powerful, like Bill explained,
But even at its best...It cant wash me up to Oklahoma.
Oh, yeah. I have another aquaintenence, that lost
a few acres running along the Big Red, in the 90 Flood.
It wasnt his Home, but a little place that they went for the weekends
and stuff. It was close to the river, around Hooks, back in there
somehwere. All along the river, folks loose afew feet every year. Dont
take long for that too mount up. I believe I live ''up'' from Jerry,
and he lives ''down'' from me.

    Wakko says:
I'm thinking that Jerry is talking about the Red rerouting the state
line. It's happened a few times before.

    I guess so.

However, Bill, the Red River, according to the map actually works its
way eastward, then southeast, from Denison over and slightly down here,
    to Tkana.
What-a-river. Presently it hasnt flooded around here, yet?????
