I didn't spot any mistakes apart from using 'the' to start the sentence,
    maybe that's why I'm so inferior in Des' eyes....as if I give a ****
    what he thinks.

  6. You're confusing prediction with interpretation.

    Try again.

  8. Look you utter muppet:

Firstly (despite your assertion that I'm a 'senior clique member') I
have never met Loz and wouldn't know him from Adam.

Secondly: You don't seem to know the meaning of the word 'moderation'.
I have a brother like you - everything he has is automatically the best
and whenever someone disagrees with him it's an 'unwarranted insult'.
He too can't understand that people dislike him because he is
(basically) a person with no significant people skills. Like you he
can't understand that disagreement can be polite, that respect from
people is not a right but earned and that people respond to you *in the
way that you respond to them*.

Are you sure you don't have Aspergers Syndrome? Because you certainly
    act like it..

  9. And you don't think that *any* of that is because of the way that you
    post? Hmm?
It's all communication.. and I don't believe that you can utterly
separate the two. Not unless you are clinically insane.

  10. But is that really history as much as mere counterfactual speculation?

  11. Sigh. You missed the point. I remember your UKRM arrival and it didn't
go well.. And people have long memories.

Just as an experiment - try not insulting anyone for a week or two..
and not by just not posting..
    Good Des/Bad Des?

    Des says...
My, my. For all your high fallutin' education and 'massive intellect'
you haven't done very well for yourself, have you?

Makes me feel rather proud of the social skills that I possess. At least
I can put them to profitable use. Even after going through bankruptcy 3
1/2 years ago, I seem to be in a far better position than you.

Ben was asking for information about posting facilities at the airport.
Were you asking for advice/help when you posted to UKRM from Dallas?

Another _verifiable_ fact is that you are a lying twat.

    Heh.

As someone once remarked: "The Soviet Union- the only country in the
    world with loose-leaf history books".

The only worry is that you can substitue a myriad of countries' names for
'The Soviet Union' these days and the statement rings true....

  16. No really. A lot of history is "X did this because...". The because
requires the historian to imagine alternate outcomes, based on the
options available to X at the time, so there is a degree of prediction
    required.[/QUOTE]

And *you* are confusing prediction with speculation.

I'd ask him to post definitive proof of that statement, Phil. I bet

FFS don't start underscoring all the way through your posts too. If a
man's emphasis is not readily identifiable by the way he puts a
phrase, then it really doesn't help attempting to force a reader to
read that phrase in a particular way. Certainly not when it is done
to excess. No, I'm not having a go at you, you cont.

More to the point, UKRM falls into three groups.

    1. Those who don't like Des.
    2. Those who don't give a toss about Des.
    3. Des.

What sort of person hangs around where they're not wanted? Sure: it's a
public forum and he's quite entitled to be here but he offers nothing but
discord and I can't remember the last time I heard anyone say anything
    even remotely complimentary about him.

The world - let alone UKRM - would be a better place without Des.

    It's a dead-cat thing. :-(
