I thought the point of news groups was to help others and share information.

But apparently some ppl think its an opportunity to abuse ppl.. fortunately
Im not a newby, I feel sorry for those that are.

I ask intelligent questions, and answer help where I have experience.

My thanks and gratitude go out to tho that offer help. The rest off you need
to have a long hard look at yourselves and consider why you are here... are
you here to help to a newbie???? or do you scare them off????????

THINK ABOUT WHY YOU ARE HERE???????????????

    My kindest Regards.

    Andy.

What, you think alt.fan.warlord is to help others and share
    information?

This is one is a virtual rally fire, and if you rock up to a fire and
ask a question that shows you are a twit, you'll know all about it.

At least here you don't have to listen to the whale joke as well.

Many newsgroups, this one included, are far more than a discussion forum. They have become a community. Most people here have met
each other personally, and catch up in person regularly.

As others have mentioned to you, think of this newsgroup as a pub or a campfire. You have simply bowled up to a group of people and
asked a question that shows you to be , to many people here, a prat and a poser.

Not a newbie to newsgroups? Your reactions to peoples comments suggest otherwise.

  5. [thinks: whale joke? Should I? Am I gonna regret this? Maybe someone
else will ask. I'm missing something, surely. What the hell - somebody's
    gotta ask]

    What whale joke?

How do you tell the difference between a troll and a genuinely stupid
    person.
Yes, yes it is. The problem is stupid people don't like getting answers
    they don't want to hear.

Let me make it plain, as one of the very many people on this newsgroup
who are able to get their knee down when they wish, it is not something
you do on a public road.

If you have your knee on the deck on a public road, you are a complete
fucking idiot of the first order. No if's, no and's, no buts, no
    excuses.
Good, so you'll understand that the information given to you was
    accurate and appropriate.
You asked a question, you got answers from a large number of
experienced riders which were quite consistent. You just didn't like
    the answer. Stiff shit.
I've been riding over 30 years, I'm here because I find other like
minded people, but I also try and share what little I know with people.
One thing I know is that if you try and get your knee down on a public
road you're a complete fucking idiot
No, telling people harsh truths sometimes has to be done.

  11. Yeah, thats a common misconception and the cause of a lot of angst for
people who hold it. (and yes JL, this means I'm saying you're wrong!)

You'll notice that the name "news group" doesn't contain the term "help"
or "share" - and though I'll admit that name is a historical relic and
the name "discussion group" is more accurate, and you'll notice that it
also doesn't contain the terms "help" or "share".

If you want "help" and nothing else, you're after whats called a "help
desk" - one of the common identifying features of a help desk is the
    requirement to pay for help.

What you'll get in here is "discussion". You'll get it for free, you'll
get it whether you want it or not, and you won't get to choose where
    that discussion goes.
I think you'll find nearly everybody here knows exactly why they're here.
Nope. It often happens, but it's got nothing to do with why I spend my
    time reading and posting here.
I'm here to discuss. Thats it. If you expect any more from anyone here
you're going to end up disappointed. I keep coming back because the
people you accuse of "abusing ppl" are, in general, a pretty fun bunch
of people to discuss things with.

What I'm _not_ here for, is to provide you (or anybody else) with help
and information. If thats what you're after, mail me for my consulting
rates and we'll discuss your options. :)

  20. Not this year. Too close to the Coffs AGM. I will get to an unaugural
    one year though.

A whale walks into a bar with a 6 pack of beer under his flipper. The
bartender says, "Whale, you know you can't bring your own beer into a
bar! What do you have to say for yourself?" The whale says, "Whooooo,
    whoooo, whoooo."
