    In communiqué
The availability in three colours is a nice touch.
Needs an upside down version for Oz plonk though.

http://usbwine.com/ is quite amusing. Click on one of the wines and you
get the 'progress bar' as your wine 'loads'.

I went into PC World for a giggle today and approached one of the (very) few
    visible droids.

"I would like a top of range Sony Vaio please, the TZ small format type".

These babies are upwards of £1600. Droid informed me that it could be
supplied through our business account but it would have to be ordered. Not a
problem in itself. So we got down to the spec and I detailed no Vista, XP
    Pro, Linux or bare bones.

"Sorry Sir we cannot supply it with anything other than a Vista system and
we will not supply it without the licenced (M$) operating system".

No really, they turned down the sale and I walked out. How incredible is
    that?!!!

Given the OS is installed at the sony factory, before the laptop even
goes into a box, not incredible at all.

The thing is Microsoft have contracts directly with the manufacturers,
and it's only when the manufacturers offer machines with alternate OS
options that the retailers can sell them... unless you want to buy parts
    and build your own.

Having said that, a smart sales droid could have offered to discount you
a shrink wrapped copy of linux if it sealed the deal.
