The pain is in my arm Doc!

Two in my elbow, and three each in each shoulder. The elbow ones worked
well, but the shoulder ones, not so much. Getting on the operating table
sorted one shoulder out pretty well, but it's been fucking easy to dislocate
it since. The other shoulder is just fucked and sounds like someone walking
on gravel when I move it.
Wait for your shoulders to catch up with your elbow.

That's odd, given that one of the most effective treatments for frozen
shoulder is "manipulation". That's where they knock you out and then a bunch
of doctors (or possibly even porters) rag the **** out your arm, moving it
into every conceivable position while you can't feel it. If that's not
forcing it through the pain barrier, I don't know what it, but it has the
desired effect of allowing you to use the arm again without screaming.

I had that done to my left shoulder and it was a blessing, my right shoulder
needed keyhole surgery t remove some bony bit or other that was interfering
with a tendon or two. Or so they said.

I still need to move both arms through the absolute maximum range every day
at least twice though, but rather that than it hurting like a Mofo.

Could well be, I think the phrases "bunch of dacotrs" and "where they
knock you out" pertains here .. I tried to administer
    self-manipulation. It didn't work.
Heh, wish I could move both mine through the range, right one's fine,
    left one's a biatch.

I was referring more to this..

"Don't, whatever you do, try to force the shoulder back through the pain, it
really doesn't help and can set the healing process back a
    long way"

I certainly know what you mean abut taking it beyond where it's happy to go
being painful, and I'd never try to do it on porpoise.

Do you have to have your arm(s) in a precise position when you're trying to
get to sleep? I did for quite some time, and I've often wondered if others
so afflicted (by bad shoulders, not by "Beav") suffered the same. Whatever,
I'd do the necessary to get the shoulders sorted "soon as".

I slept once with my arm stretched over the side of the bed which
damaged the muscle going under the shoulder. physio and drugs worked
    for me.

still twinges occasionally but doing the exercises helps.

  10. Both mine are screwed from years of martial arts abuse. The only cure
that I found was getting in the gym and building muscle around the joint
to hold it in place. Both mine dislcated if I look at them funny prior
to this. It's not easy but it beats the shit out of surgery which can
    make the problem worse.

    What do you mean, "turning"?

It's a bastard too. I have to have my left arm behind my back with the elbow
bent. I feel like one of the blokes from "Deliverance" but without the tree
    holding me up:)

  16. Punching air in shotokan karate started it, then Japanese Ju Jitsu
having someone trying to snap your arm off made it worse then having it
dislocated completely in a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu finished it off. I've
given up on unarmed stuff and bought a gun. : )

Not the most subtle of styles, Shotokan
I ended up with Kateda, until I got too fat, at which point a gentle
transition to Sumo might have been in order, instead I changed style to
    lazy ****
