After the inquest Ms Bunney said: "People don't seem to be aware how
    dangerous they [airbags] can be."

Yep, definitely the airbag at fault...

While I sort of agree that she should have had the book thrown at her, I
sort of feel that effectively having killed her own daughter will be
    enough of a sentence.

Also, unless I'm being particularly more stupid than usual, it seems
there is no reference to what (if anything) she was convicted of.

She also said 'I was completely unaware of the dangers of an airbag on
older children in the front of cars'

The important bit, to my mind, being *older* children.

But you may have a point

  5. After the inquest Ms Bunney said: "I was completely unaware of the
dangers of an airbag on older children in the front of cars.
"I don't feel there's enough awareness. I have spoken to North Wales
Police and Brake, the road safety charity, about a campaign to try and
    raise awareness for parents.
"People don't seem to be aware how dangerous they can be."

How about being how dangerous TAKING YOUR FUCKING EYES OFF THE
ROAD can be? Texting and driving and she blames the airbag?

(Well, OK, it's understandable she wants to blame somebody else
for the death of her own daughter. Doesn't make her right.)

Exactly. This is a report of the inquest. Now that accidental death has
been recorded, not manslaughter, the CPS can decide if they will prosecute.
They might, for the reasons you mention, decide prosecution is not in the
public interest but, as this is North Wales...

Sprog is dead and it's her fault, not that lightly. Does highlight a
possible problem in that the sprog was belted in but still killed by
    the airbag activating.

And the fact that Mum was looking over to see the text her daughter
was sending, which caused her to lose control and crash.

I think knowing you've been responsible for the death of your own
daughter is enough of a punishment.

True, but at the same time, it didn't appear that way in the quotes
she gave in the beeb URL. But that could well be the reporting methods
    of the beeb.

Oh I don't know. I know parent with children they would gladly kill, if
they though they could get away with just a Careless Driving conviction.

Oh yeah I realise that it was the mother's poor driving that caused
the accident, however, correct operation of the airbag really
shouldn't kill the passenger. AFAIK the only caveat is not to use a
read facing baby carrier, so it's a possible design or operation
    problem.

Or get too close etc etc.

Pretty much incorrect operation of the passenger.

It's called "Causing death by dangerous driving".
Nope. For that charge to stick her driving would have to be a much
    lower standard than that.

I agree that she was at fault, but she's lost her own daughter, FFS.
What good could it possibly do for anyone to bang her up inside for a
    few years?
