    A couple of recent texts:

"So far 3 sportsters have made it to fort will. Weather abysmal currently
pissing down. Only one bike has caught fire so far."

"All now in JoG. No more incidents but worst days riding ever - weather
    utterly horrible"

I must confess that I replied along the lines of "It's lovely here - blue
skies, fluffy clouds etc. We're just lounging around in the garden quaffing
    G&Ts".

Are they camping or staying in hotels?

I believe the Harleys are all booked into hotels. The owners are
    sleeping under tarps.

  6. Heh. Niall and a couple of other mates have gone up there for a long
weekend, on their bikes. Liz has already abandoned the back of Niall's
bike for the comfy inside of someone else's car.

It was grim up there last weekend. I wouldn't have wanted to be on a
    bike at all.

We camped the first night. As we arrived in JOG at the end of Sunday we
saw the signs saying B&B from £14.50 and it was not a hard decision.

Friday was a long day, about 430 miles, and it was the wettest weather I
have ever ridden in. It was constant. As we rode out of Glasgow I'm not
sure the A74 could be classed a road. It was a river. I lost count of
the number of times one or other of the wheels got out of line. Harleys
are not supposed to spin the rear on a dual carriageway at 50.

Saturday was pure hell. The road from Fort William to JOG is technically
quite challenging at the best of times (read fun when dry). As it was
the constant rain was now only part of the mix. Now we had very strong
blustery wind, an atrocious road surface made up mostly of over banding,
and lots of diesel spills. It was only about 170 miles but it was the
worst day's riding I have ever had.

After that, the 622 mile ride home today was a (wet) stroll in the park.
    Now where's my Prep H?

Hardest game in the world, riding Harleys round Scotland in the pissing
    rain...

I have this vision of your nads singing "Fire and Rain".

    Very!

I was up there with 9 other riders (5 of us on Fazers) - heavy rain
interspered with torrential downpours with breaks in between of hail storms.

At one point the rain was so heavy the drops were touching each other and
the hail had to queue up behind them.
