I know what you mean ... I like catching staphylococcus or tuberculosis
    in the
Bay Area because it is in the Bay Area. No fuckin' So Cal diseases for

As a former Bay Arean, I can appreciate the sentiment, but we do have
better riding weather and generally more interesting terrain. San Diego
is blessed with free motorcycle parking, sensibly aligned at 45 degrees
for easy egress. And our HOV lanes are 24/7, with limited access points
    to reduce surprise lane changes.

OTOH, we have Los Angeles, which I understand to be the prototype for
    the remodeling job they're doing on Hell. ;-}

I'd love to go home (Mercy Hospital class of 47).
    Spot on.

OTOOH: LA area has some wonderful motorcycling roads - as nice as most
    of the Bay Area roads.

The main problem with the LA area is all the #%@! people. If half of
them would move out it would
become a very nice place again.

A friend (a native So Cal girl) told me once that The Rose Parade ruined
Los Angeles ... every Jan 1st, people in those
cold, wet, white M-states (Montana, Michigan, Mass) tuned into the Rose
Parade and saw people wearing T-shirts and
Shorts watching the parade! They said to themselves "Damn! I'll be
there next year" - what could have saved LA
(from Laissez Faire development) was an Earthquake during the Rose
Parade ... followed by a freak snowstorm.
