the hair dryer *didnt* work

    the previous owner of the viffer had put on the side of the tank a clear
    stick on film to protect it from your knees scratching it. Its a lot thinner
    than contact and I think it might me this stuff from 3M

    anywho, it now has worn through a looks like shit. I tried the hair dryer,
    but it just makes it go brittle and harder to get of. Eucalyptus oil gets
    the glue from underneath off. but not the plastic on top.I have got about
    half off by peeling it off, but the other half is brittle and wont budge

    Any ideas what to use, I need a solvent that is harsh enough to break down
    the plastic, but safe enough not to damage to paint on the tank

    Try De-Solv-It (get it at a hardware store like Mitre 10) or WD40.

    go to a paint place and get either:
    Prepwash
    Prepsol
    Wax & Grease Remover
    All of which are the same thing, or get some Acetone.

    None of these should affect your paintwork.

    big kev's goo remover. some fuckwit stole the badges off my car leaving big gobs of doublesided
    tape that stick stupidly well. this removed that without a charm and didn't damage the paintwork[1]


    [1] If YOU damage it is another question, just rub rub rub it into the stuff to come off and work it out patiently, it'll
    eventually get rid of it all

    Acetone is a bit aggressive! Ether is good[1].
