Odd thing about the Edsel, the chap who designed the utter pile of shite was
then shipped off the Ford UK, and went on to design the Mk1 Cortina, which
was a slightly more successful car.

That's probably the difference between being told what your design will
look like by a bunch of corporate wankers and being allowed to do the
    job properly.

You can the enforcer then whenever people post repeat links or any
other heinous crime that I'm still not allowed to comment on.

But whoever specified the use of Hypoy in its gearbox was a twat.

  9. Even where the quoted text is pushed off the bottom of the screen, and
when uncovered, it amounts to one line or less?

    Pretty please?

  10. Only for you. *I* hadn't heard it.

However, I think I've been whooshed a bit, 'cos I can't think of any
Frod which has a name or nickname like 'pubic'.

Thass probably because I have zero interest in cages. I was once asked
by a dibble the details of a car involved in a hit and run, and all I
could say was that it was a car and that it was a saloon, and dark blue.

    "Make, sir?"

"No idea. They all look the same to me: a tin box with some glass bits
round it, and a wheel at each corner."

Then someone chipped in and gave him make, model, year, and a lot of
other guff which just amazed me.

Dibble checked on radio and said the year was wrong for the (possible)
reg number he had. Cove explained that it had to be that year because
some detail of the rearlight arrangement was only fitted on that model
in that year, and for only half of it at that.

Dibble became very interested because the registration suggested someone
might have changed the plates off a write-off of <Nutrimat> a not quite
    dissimilar age. </Nutrimat>

I never did hear the outcome though.

  11. As Mo says, plus the British market was definitely ready for something
like the Mk1 Cortina, having been subjected to several years of post-war
    porridge.

Roy Brown the chap's name was (I think). He was not very popular with his
bosses in the statese ither. One story I read many years ago concerned his
pipe smoking habit. His boss commented, in front of the whole draughting
office that if he came home smelling of such pipesmoke his wife would think
he had spent the day in a hookers boudoir.

Brown replied that personally he had no worries on this score with his wife,
as she didn't know what a hooker's boudoir smelled like.

    Made me chuckle.

  13. Oh. It might have been funny if there'd been a Ford Public, or something
similar. I did pick up the 'Pubic/Corsair' correlation, but dropped the
    Corsair sharpish, detecting something fishy.

Well that stirred the shit a bit didn't it?!

Honestly, if I'd seen it already posted I wouldn't have reposted....stands
    to reason dunnit?
Twat..? yeah I've been known to be a bit of a twat at times.
The last time was giving it a bit too much going in to Redgate following
some nice chap on a pretty red 916. Unfortunately said 916 had just decided
to dump it's nice slippy oil all around Redgate.
    One spoilt trackday.

NTLhell? It's been feckin great since they upped the speed to 10mb....I
could've posted through Newshosting or Giganews.... which one is more
pathetic though....answers on a postcard please.

  17. Just a minor point...

    What are you referring to?
It helps if you leave a bit in so we can see what you're wibbling about.
