The giddy thrill of Acquisition

Mines basically the same engine (apart from cams, timing and
electronics & carbs versus F.I.) and I've not experienced any of that.
Maybe because I ride a lot slower than you?
    Yeah that IS a problem.

Got mine serviced for the first 3 times at a Kawasaki dealer (Race
Replica in Brooklyn) but after they did a terrible job 3 consecutive
times I decided to get a bike mechanic mate in NZ who did his
apprenticeship at a Kawakasaki dealers - my bike does 10,000kms per
year over there and it's serviced when I arrive in Chch in December
and just before it's shipped back so it's ready for the UK trip when
it arrives back in Melb, to do anything I can't do myself - I'm now
    doing oil changes etc.

Actually a mate is doing it. I bought oil (40ltrs of 10w40 Semi Synth
Motul) and filters at trade prices sufficient for my bike, Maggie's
    Z750, Jim's ZX10R and his wifes SV650S and while it's a significant
cost upfront what I spent is still only the cost of 2 services at Race
Replica for my bike and I'll get 10 oil changes each out of it for the
4 bikes. Jim will get his fingers dirty - he likes that and he gets
oil & filters for his and his wife's bike for 50,000kms.
Yes, it's dissapointing that there simply is not a good Kawasaki
dealer in Melb, but I think I've found an answer for our bikes.

    Kind regards

That was the most annoying thing about owning the ZRX1200R, I can (and will)
recommend Raceway Suzuki if you have a Soozi though.

    Hi Geoff,
Sorry I was so busy on Sunday I couldn't say Hello.

Yeah, I'll probably use them for some servicing. 4cyl Jap stuff is
    mostly very much the same.

    I've heard they are OK.

    Kind regards

...and the capacity, the bore, the stroke etc
    ZX12R 1199ml (83 x 55.4mm) v ZXR1200R 1164ml (79.9 x 59.4 mm)

It wasn't the engine I had a problem with. It was mainly plastic bits.
Small tabs on fairing mounts broke and the headlight mounting points
cracked, and some other bolts (structurally integral but no Kawasaki
mechanics in Melbourne seem to realise that, nor will Kawasaki Australia
admit it) jiggled themselves loose, which probably was the main cause of
    the plastic damage as above.

They sure have a good rep.. I know someone who went all the way from Mt
Eliza to Raceway to buy a Gixxer750 last week. I think they must've
just about gone past every other Suzuki dealer in Melb on their way.

    *Heh*

Tis kewl, I could see you were flat out :)
They are fairly busy though (probably because they actually try and do the
right thing) so you shouldn't expect to walk in and walk out with your bike.

Do you think we'd have been bothered with our dodgy mechanics if there was a
    decent bike mechanic though? :)

Congratulations Theo! I'm envious. Is this the first sale in Australia?
