OK so I like to joke when commenting about the ambitions of Road
Racers but serious can be difficult,so just how well is Neil going to
do in the States when he tries a two wheeled showdown of WSB and AMA
    with a sabatical in between?
His victory of WSB 2003 was described as 'neat' and not much else.
Neil was simply not given any room for error this year and it could be
argued that he was not always popular, or does Max Biaggi run his good
friends off the racetrack? Leaving behind local rumours of theft and
violence at British National Racing didn't help, who noticed the stone
throwing after yet another Hodgson 'off late in the season? Its all
very well for him to 'want to make history' but that is ambitious and
making the stupendous statement of 'The main thing that I have
discovered this year is that I cannot race just to make up the
numbers. I need to win!' is like a thicko asking if he can make a
wish. Of course I want Neil to do well, all I can do is remind him
that America is the land of the gun.

Mat Mladin has some neat comments about Neil:
"I met Neil Hodgson for the first time at Daytona and he seems like a nice
guy who is determined to do good in the States. I'm going to have to tell
him to watch his lip here in the AMA as saying 'SHIT' is an automatic
$5000.00 fine. Yep, he said it whilst describing his first few laps going
around the east banking. With my best English accent it sort of went like
this. "The first time on the banking I foorkiing s*#t myself".
"It will be great for the series to have Neil here. Win or lose, I hope he
decides to stay for more than a year."
