Whilst reading Andy C's post declaring once again that UKRM is the font of
all knowledge I had a thought. Just how much is UKRM_the_font of all
knowledge so I fired up the trusty google and did a search for 'font of all
knowledge'. In Google Groups UKRM is the only newsgroup specifically
referenced and posts come in at numbers 5, 10, 14 and then as regular as a
    BOTAFOT.

So I have registered www.thefontofallknowledge.co.uk and will point it at a
    google groups listing of UKRM.

Just so we keep our rightful place you know.

what do you mean "only newsgroup specifically referenced"?

It's only the 20th group listed by relevance...
    you sad fucker.

    American Heritage Dictionary, thanks.

Err when I stick 'font of all knowledge' into google then select 'Groups'
the only listing of a group is uk.rec.motorcycles.* (2 groups)

As for the font/fount debate, According to google there are 163 votes for
'fount', 466 for 'font' Last time I looked we lived in a supposed democracy,
    so the 'fonts' have it.

Yeh but what the hell it only takes a few K of webspace.

It seems the spelling was good enough for that Bill Shakespeare fella...

    GRATIANO:
In christening shalt thou have two god-fathers:
Had I been judge, thou shouldst have had ten more,
To bring thee to the gallows, not the font.

(Merchant of Venice, Act IV, Scene 1)

    KING RICHARD II:
No lord of thine, thou haught insulting man,
Nor no man's lord; I have no name, no title,
No, not that name was given me at the font,
    But 'tis usurp'd: ...

(King Richard II, Act IV, scene 1)

In a church, I have never heard the font referred to as a 'fount'

Well, a church font is just a glorified bucket, whilst, imo, a fount
implies a flow of liquid. But that's just me.
