The first step is admitting I have a problem

  1. Hi. Just moved here from NEDoD-land, and as an ex-Masshole, I'm finding
that I'm now addicted to lanesplitting. It feels like I moved from a
place where oral sex is considered sodomy to a place where blowjobs are
considered an acceptable alternative to a "nice to meet you" airkiss.
I'm -trying- to not 'split when traffic is at speed, but man, when
you've split continuously for 30 minutes, its hard to stop just because
traffic has finally deigned to move continuously...

My freeway commute to SF aside, I'm diggin' your roads. I took a couple
hours off from a frustrating day at work and went up Morgan Territory
    Road, giggling like a schoolgirl!

I couldn't believe how the moto population thinned out in the SF parking
spots when it was ever-so-slightly overcast and misty. Sheesh. You
don't know how good you have it...

BTW, is ba-rides the best place to sub for ride announcements, or are
    there others?

    -Roger

Welcome to Collie-fornia, Roger. Lane-splitting is a privilege here,
but I find it exhausting. I balance the frustration of crawling in
traffic against the hypervigilance required to lane split (and the
required level rises with the speed of ambient traffic) to keep my use
    of the privilege under control.

I've driven in metro Boston (my mom and sister live there) and it's a
pleasure to have lanes that are wide enough to split in (I won't go into
Boston signage). Enjoy our roads and keep the rubber side down.

This might help... the faster the traffic the easier it is
for a car to jam you off while lane splitting..
The fun has just begun, you must try out the high mountains
north of the golden gate down to the ocean going north.
solicit the NG for volunteer tour guides and dont miss the
view from mount tamalpias at sunset.

I myself like to run the golden gate bridge at night
going north in the wind and rain then up through the lighted
tunnel laid over with the wind bouncing the bike around hard.

Some on the NG like to go out when is storming too. But
right most commuters dont. it screws up the work clothes
    maybe.

alt.motorcycle.sportbike is a sister NG to this one more
national and international in scope but still heavily SF bay
    area populated.
