At present I am a gentleman of leisure, so neither.

Although, hopefully, next month will see me become the latter. I certainly
hope so, anyway, the solid gold taps are already on order.

I'll have a rather spiffy new guitar amplifier to play with.

    and

    One bike needs taxing
    Another needs taxing and testing
    The other needs finishing.

I'm hardly one to err on the side of caution but it seems far too soon to
put that kind of loading on the legs. One awkward fall and Bob's your cross
    dressing auntie.

I'm not calculating from the accident date but from the successful fusion of
    the bones.

Caution is good, of course, but the human body is a remarkable thing.
FWIW I first skiied 5 months after my big prang, with the metalwork
still in my spine, and with the blessing of my surgeon. I was still on
loads of painkillers, and it was just two months after the bone
healing was confirmed. The first fall was scary, but it was just a sit
down and didn't hurt much - getting up, by pushing down with the ski
    pole, too quickly was bloody painful, mind :-}

Oh, and I'd been diving in the Madlives a month earlier than that.

So it's really more a case of taking it slowly, within your limits,
and not overstressing it. And clearly only if medical advice allows.

And FWIW Neal's the sort of boarder who stays upright 95% of the time,
rather than the majority who have to sit/fall every time they stop.

I wouldn't be taking the "medical advice" as gospel either, it is alarmingly
subjective unless from a leading consultant in the particular field.

I'll see about getting hold of a portable hoist... or maybe my back
    might be up to it.
Of course, and here's a bizarre off-the-wall thought: you could always
    ski instead.

Well I put the lives of thousands at risk anyway and took the RSV out.

Jolly good it was to, once I'd got my head around it not being soft and
fluffy and forgiving like the VFR. I did have to keep stopping on the
B-roads to reattach my kidneys, but on the sweeping A-roads it was simply
    sublime.

It really does need to see a racetrack this summer, but Lisa is busy
squandering money on baby stuff rather than race plastics - it's shocking.

I was in fracture clinic today. Got a walking sole. Not healed by a long way
but at least can put a little weight on it.

I suppose gentle and powder boarding would be ok, soft boots?
