It runs - smokes like an early morning picket line but it runs all the same. Needs a new battery before I can get an MOT as the indicators and brake lights won't work yet. It's a good 'un too, engine sounds pretty sweet. It took a fiver's worth of fuel and two kicks on the starter to get it running, not bad for something that's been laid up and neglected for at least 18 months. heh, people wash their bike, then take photos of it with all the suds underneath on the floor why not move it for a better photo?
Stuck a spare battery on the FZR a couple of weeks ago & it fired up after a few seconds & settled down to a perfectly smooth idle. Not bad for something that's apparently been stood for 8 years. I didn't even put any fresh petrol in it!
It has a staggering 19531 miles on it now. -- Lozzo Versys 650 Tourer, CBR600F-W racebike in the making, TS250C, RD400F (somewhere) BMW E46 318iSE (it's a car, not one of those 2-wheeled pieces of shite they churn out)
Funnily enough, I got Snorky MZ running today - clouds of smoke but that was a product of petroil that had been in there since September 2008 (when it went to the EOSM). Started second kick but died shortly after when the five year old 6v battery gave up the ghost, another blast on the charger got it to run again - and I remembered the bike had developed a charging problem, the reason it'd been abandoned at the back of the lockup. I had a run up the road out of it - new battery and a bit of fiddling will have the worlds most beautiful/ugliest bike back on the road.
I've been keeping a half hearted eye out for one but prices seem to be going ever upward.Either its you buying up the world stock or lots of people seem to be agreeing you.
I've not bought an MZ for ages. I don't really have any intention to start again either. I have, however, bought a 3.8 engine in Berkshire - I pick it up tomorrow.
