    Because (for we thirtysomethings at least) supporting him as a student was a
    morally uncontroversial way of appearing "right on".

    Other than that, yes, all the fucker did was sit in prison for twenty-odd
    years, and then not get all pissy about it when they released him. Which
    puts him pretty high in the firmament of "all round nice people", but that's
    about it.

    Oh, I dunno, he's done more than that. He's continued to sanction the
    ANC when they've been moving to turn SA into a one-party state, among
    other things.

    He's a numpty who got lucky (if you can call twenty-odd years in prison
    lucky)
