    And you know the great thing - at least as far as British Rail is
    concerned - the taxpayer now subsidises the railways; ostensibly for
    the benefit of the travelling public. I don't have a problem with
    that, really. Except, guess what - the public subsidies are almost
    exactly equal to the dividends paid to the shareholders!

    Ginge - you want something to be furious about how your tax money gets
    spent? It's right here, buddy. UB40 is **** all.

    We have a system here (in Spain) whereby the doleys get "called up" by
    the council when work needs doing. It's not compulsory, but if they
    don't do it, they lose money. Or something like that. I think.

    They seem happier when working than when not. Pride maybe?

    Recently, a significant percentage of the island's male population got took

    I've never thought of myself as a lefty libertarian before. I'm not
