In a fit of misplaced enthusiasm, I stripped the carbs, cleaned them,
replaced assorted brass gismos and rubber bung things, put the whole lot
back together, stirred in a freshly charged battery and the thing burst into
life and settled to a contented 1000rpm tickover. Glowing with self
satifaction I grabbed the lid and set off for the obligatory test ride.

Then I realsed the throttle worked back to front.

    Bugger.

You've just connected the cables the wrong way round. Push on the
pull and vice versa. Or you're sitting facing the wrong way - could
    be either, really.

BTDT, nearly. Started the heap, couldn't work out why its tickover was
so sensitive to choke when cold, and the throttle made it stall...
