The damage

After my daughter Caz's little episode with a Golf, she's home and been
assessing the damage to herself, bike and kit.

    So far she's found:

A very dark bruise that runs from half way up her left shin to her hip
Another dark bruise that covers her complete right shoulder with a small
abrasion on the back of the shoulder
A lightly but painfully bruised right hip
    An achey right elbow

She's finding it hard to do normal gurlie things owing to the overall
pain and the fact she is right handed and can't move her right arm at
all cos it's in a sling.

    Damage to her kit is:

Arai Quantum F scratched down right side and visor pod smashed off
Hein Gericke waterproof jacket torn on right shoulder and scuffed all
    over
Uvex waterproof trousers scuffed on knees and right hip
Sidi Vertebraes scuffed on toes and right side has stitching damage

Looks like all of this will need to be replaced. Surprisingly there is
no damage at all to her HG Pathan gloves.

Damage to her bike is quite severe, as the following car skidded and
collected it as he swerved to avoid Caz. The damage she can see so far
    is:

Front forks either bent or badly twisted in yokes
    Front m/guard bent and scraped
    Headlight smashed
    Tacho housing scraped
Brake levers both bent beyond repair
    Fuel tank dented
    Handlebars badly bent
    Right indicators both ripped off
Right silencer flattened (she has a brand new now unobtainable spare)
    Seat cover ripped
Left footrest ripped off (this is on a bar that holds the right as well)
    Right footrest bent right up
Swingarm appears bent, or frame is bent, back wheel is sitting skew-
    whiff

It would appear Caz took the main force of the impact on her left leg,
which shunted the bike over on it's right side and into a traffic
island, from where it ended up being hit by the following car at low
speed. As it's only valued at less than 800 quid, we've come to the
conclusion that it's most certainly a write off. Bearing in mind it's a
fundamentally sound and reliable 1982 RD125 twin, which she is very fond
of - and she's probably got enough spare parts to rebuild it - I reckon
she should give 20 or so quid for the salvage and rebuild it again.
She's going to be stinging the Golf driver for a new set of bike kit and
for her bruising, so she'll end up a few quid in pocket anyway.

    Ouch, that lot sounds painful!
But that sounds interesting ... does she need help :)
Kept hanging on to the bars all the way then?
And you want to rebuild that? I am impressed with your engineering
prowess. Even if the frame is bent?

<snip rest of tale of woe soon to be replaced by happiness and riches>

I dunno about insewarance, claims, etc but physically, she needs
    a) proper checking out
    b) if all intact c)
    c) plenty of warm baths [1] and movement, worst thing she can to is "seize"
    d) dont go to work!

She's fundamentallu unharmed, which is the main thing. After the bruises
fade she'll have the satisfaction of thinking: "No broken bones and I
can sue his arse to **** and beyond."

G'wan, rebuild the RD. Those little twins are gorgeuous bikes (but I
still preferred the looks of the curvaceous drum-braked one better).
