That goes some way to explaining the costs of ebooks and why they're
no cheaper than dead tree books.

Basically cost of printing is bugger all in the grand scheme of
things, so digitising it doesn't save much money.

Nooo, This is such a rare thing that it has to be savoured.

I've just come home from watching Bedford dick Bristol in the Boxing
Day game and I'm on a roll so more beer and stew will be forced in
before a snooze then the cricket.

Rare? England batting forever happened three weeks ago at Adelaide.

Wiping Australia out for nine tenths of **** all, otoh, that was worth
    staying up for.

I gave it up at 65-4, just after Hughes, Pringle and Butcher had been
rabitting on for ages about their great times at the MCG.

Just got myself outside the mother and father of all
bubble'n'squeaks[1], ready for TG's Three Wise Men, then a snooze, the
    TMS through the night.

I guess garage emptying will have to wait until tomorrow.

[1] Venison, roast and mashed spuds, carrots, parsnips, sprouts,
cabbage, chestnuts, pork stuffing balls, and proper gravy.

It's feature creep. They've added pin to any recordings PG or over
recently. There's always a default pin, which in my case was set to
the last 4 numbers of the viewing card I had before this one. It's
remained constant through 3 different sky boxes and 2 cards.
Cool, I think there's also an option somewhere on the website to reset
the pin if you're registered to use that.

a few, although in the UK the Snickometer has been favoured which uses
    sound waves on an oscilloscope.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Spot_(cricket) says since 2006 in
    Tests in Oz.

The snickometer takes a while to produce a result though, doesn't it?
Whereas hotspot is pretty much instant, and therefore more useful in
    reviews.

    So they say.

Snicko is good in that a glance invisible to the camera can be detected.

They only have 2 reviews per innings and I don't see how the extra time
taken to use snicko would make much difference compared to all of the other
procrastination that goes on. Very few teams manage to get the allotted
    overs into the 6 hours.

The idea is to use it to eliminate the howlers, of which there shouldn't
be that many. If the teams choose to squander their reviews on
    trivialities then that's their lookout.

To be more accurate, if they ask for a review and the decision is
overturned then they don't lose "a life". So, when Alistair Cook challenged
the lbw decision he had the decision overturned and England kept their 2
    reviews.

Earlier in the day, England when bowling challenged 2 "not out lbw"
decisions in the first few overs. The "not out" decision were both upheld.
Therefore England lost both of their reviews and could not ask for any more
decisions to be reviewed in that innings.

So, as oggers says, in theory, 2 reviews should be enough as teams need to
learn when to challenge and when not too. This system is pretty new so they
are in a learning phase at the moment. It seems that challenging "not out"
lbw decisions is largely a waste of time as the margin of error goes to the
original decision. On the other hand, the snicko/infra red is very useful
for a batsman who usually knows whether they have nicked the ball or not,
so such challenges are usually upheld.

Intriguing. I use that gel, and it doesn't lather... I'm not sure

As far as blades go, Wilkinson 10 pack from Boots at 3 quid is a
    decent enough middle-of-the-road blade.

Disposable double blade (stacked) Gillettes. Buy 'em at Costco, pack
of 50 or 75, cheap. I shave almost every day, dry, no foam. Use one
til it goes dull, which means 3 days or so.
