Ignoring completely the many parts of the world where bulls are
    working animals.

So, of all these people who are correcting me on the evils of
bullfighting, how many have ever witnessed one?

You're absolutely right. I'm not really sure, any more than we're sure
that animals have any emotions, but the cardinal behaviors attributed
to fear are escape and avoidance. In the Sumatran bullfight I
witnessed, the subordinate bull turns tail and runs away, showing what
we call fear. In the bullring, even after being poked by pics and
banderillas, the bulls don't run away, but charge.

I've never seen a public stoning, either, but I know I'm not in favour
    of them.

ITYF they're correcting you on the 'evils' of food production.

Hey, you can eat Soylent Green for all I care. I prefer stuff that
grows rather than is concocted in a chemist's lab.
That's good for a chuckle, but there are so many flaws in it, I'm
surprised you keep posting it. The first problem is the title. Why
does he care what I eat? I'm not proselytizing. I don't care what
anyone else eats, why should anyone want to force me to eat what they
eat? Secondly, my reasons for not eating most meats are my own. You
don't know what they are, and it's presumptuous to lump me in with
others, no matter how logical or specious their beliefs.

I think there may be some confusion about my position. My eating
habits are really irrelevant to the discussion. I don't care where you
draw the line, and I don't care if you eat meat or not. I just find it
ironic that people can see such a quantum moral difference between
killing with bandilleras and a sword in a ring, and goading with an
electric prod through chutes before it's shot and had its brains
    scrambled.

  13. Various Batmen. Ditto some Star Trek. Not all, by any means.

There was a big-screen version of The Sweeney that didn't disappoint,
    many moons ago.

    That's such a bollocks argument.

Deadly nightshade grows naturally. Monosodium glutamate is concocted in
a chemist's lab. Which would you rather consume?

All food is chemicals. All of it.
