I'm going to have to change newspaper and political party. Front page this
morning "The Animals Won" under a picture of the nationalist leaders of the
Catalan parliament (one of whom actually voted for keeping the bullfights).
Loads of stuff about national identity, that every Spanish person has the
right to see bullfights. And the opposition (my lot) are going to appeal
against the Catalan Parliament's right to ban a "national tradition". Mind
you, most folks seem to share the opinion that it was a political move, to
distance Catalonia from the evil oppressor, Spain, whose tradition it is.

And by the way, the ban doesn't come into force until 2012!

This really annoys me. There are intelligent, articulate and rational
vegetarians (such as my wife and two of her daughters) but they never
appear on ukrm, only the twats.

And yes, that post has scope for editing.

The only blokes that know about those things are the ones who've had to
sit through Sex And The City for years.

I've never seen a single episode of that show.

Or the ones that attempted to shag the burds who watch the series.

I've weighed up the numerous and varied responses I could give to this,
from your burgeoning metrosexuality to your known penchant for cutting
    ladies' hair.

And I've settled on this: you fucking nancy.

I've occasionally fallen into the habit of watching some girly crap
(Desperate Housewives and Mad Men to name but two) but managed to
    avoid SATC.
Has there ever been a film version of a TV series that's been any
    good?

Nor me, I don't even understand the title, especially given that the dubbed
version here is entitled "Sex in New York". Surely those two titles have
entirely different meanings? I presume that the English language version
refers to two different things (hence the "and").

    not at all.
I expect not. I'd guess that Candace Bushnell (who wrote the original
newspaper column of the same name on which the show was based) used
the term "Sex and the City" to compare and contrast the ideas of "sex
life" and "life in the City", in effect conflating these two concepts.

But, as I said, I've never seen it, so I could well be talking crap.

fair enough - I did get bored 1/2 way through season 2 of DH, but MM
is still enjoyable. Having said that, I'm currently working my way
through the box set of all of West Wing which I never watched first
time round, and it's definitely my favourite at the moment.

Oh, and in the spirit of "and now for something completely different"
    also "Flight of the Conchords".
    haven't seen it.
