The big green bus of stupidness and uncertainty

This morning I decided to accompany Mr Eddie, of this parish, across to see
our tame mechanic so that a new back tyre could be fitted to his bike.

While I was there I was idly looking at his stock when I saw *IT*

IT is a Kawasaki, that much is certain and probably a good thing. It's a 6
cylinder Kawasaki which, according to the tame mechanic, was imported to the
UK from Canada by it's previous owner. Beyond that I'm a bit lost as to
    what it was.

If I describe said bike it will sound like a Voyager - big fairing,
panniers, top box, leatherette seats, cassette player, etc.- but it's not
like any Voyager I can find a picture of on the web.

It has a pig ugly fairing on, which is basically flat across the front, with
a couple of fog lights slung below it. It has a screen which really deserves
the title "windscreen", with sort of weird hinged bits at the side. The
panniers are, for reasons unknown, mounted so that they stick out at a
jaunty 30-degree angle. The tape deck seems like an aftermarket item,
because it's stuck on top of the dash.

Oh, and it's green. Not Kawasaki green, but a darker, not to say
    unpleasant, shade.

So it's green, ugly and about as big as a bus.

    And I like it.

Obviously it's the ideal bike to have as well as the Prilly, mainly because
I could fit the Prilly in to one of the panniers.

So, does anybody have any idea what it might be (I know I should have asked
while I was there, but Eddie was pointing at me and laughing) and just how
bad an idea would it be? Those Kwak 6-cylinder jobbies are OK, aren't they?

Nope, in a whole different league of ugly to that.

Imagine if you had one of those, but with a frontal section the size of a
    wardrobe.

Come on then, enlighten me. Please.

Remember that I'm a mere slip of a lad and that I, mainly, only like sports

What you're looking at there, boy, is a KZ1300B. It grew up and became a
    Voyager.

    Hmmm, you could be right.

So, how bad an idea would it be?

Um, did I mention that it's not running?

Not bad at all. Lovely engine, huge weight, 80's handling and braking.
    What's not to like?
    Ah.

For a moderately competent mechanenananananananich, possibly not an
    issue. For you? Avoid.

Ackshirley, I can't remember, did they make the 'B' with injectors. or
just carbs? If it's carbed, there's a fighting chance they're in need of
    a damned good cleaning.

    Does it fire at all?

    Is it cheap?

    That's probably bed-bugs you're hearing.

I've comprehensively scratched my Voyager itch, and an intrinsically
inferior 1300B ignites no fires within me.

i guarantee you would not be able to ride it more than about 2 miles before
    your back seized up.

i'm no stranger to discomfort but i have problems with the new mille and its
frankly titchy controls and riding position. andyr is quite a few inches
shorter, probably with little pixie feet as well if that gear lever is
    anything to go by.

I told him that as well.

Quite frankly if he managed to hunch himself into the required position to
get both hands and both feet in the correct places I'd expect the bottom of
his spine to pop free from his pelvis and explode, flailing, from his back.

I'm sure it shouldn't be possible to feel claustrophobic on a bike, but
riding the prilly wearing a back protector and a fairly full rucksack did if
    for me.
