    that I ever heard, was a z900.

I was 15. and it was in 1977, And there were two of them.

I have never to this day heard a bike engine sound so - fucking - wicked.

I used to rush to my window as I heard them coming down the hill towards
our house, put down what ever I was playing with (1) and switch off my bedroom
light. Then watch in awe as these two denim clad roustabouts SCREAMED almost to
a stop, before SCREAMING to a stop, to gingerley turning left, then right, to
    "those girls' house.

I always assumed that an " I'll be carefull with your daughter Mr. Smith"
conversation took place before they whisked the (identical twin) girls(2) away
    to the disco.

I remember seeing that each z, had very short and wide exhausts.
Possibly Harris ? or maybe homemade.

I was 15, horny and jealous as ****,.

    1. Exactly.
    2. She was the first girl I ever kissed. I was 8.

    part two.

Of the best engine sounds that compare, standing in the pits at Brands, hearing
an F3 car give max revs, well that's just ambiotic violence, and left me deaf
'till we got to the bar.

    I can't go on either....

    My old triumph daytona.
I can't recall hearing F3 cars, but F1 cars were impressive in that
they were loud, but I wouldn't go nuts for it. Not like *that* engine
note on "Into The Red". That's a platyfest I'll not forget.

My Tiger with the *twin* high level carbon race cans. Ha!
I had one of those as the ringtone on my mobile until recently. Got a
rather nice 7:34 minute mp3 of one going round a track.

I used to have a WAV file of a bit of a Stanley Schofield Sound Stories
LP featuring the V8 Guzzi. Must search and see if it is still on the old
Dell box. I also had Surtees (MV) & McIntyre (Gilera) on the road
together going away from the Creg. Gear changes a second apart -
    wonderful.

Nah, my Morini, what has a 2-1 race pipe on it. Described by some old
lad as sounding like the "classic TT, all of it".

Any Kwak triple, or a CBX.

At a push, a GL1500 without silencers is a bit fruity.

The winner, as always, is the RC166. No question.

Quality or quantity? There are those that claim this was the 'loudest':

Similar ... Z1, lad called Tim Smith had one, awesome sound.

But I actually preferred the triples, even the 250, sound ... ;)
Whilst working for a company who made special fasteners,
inconel/stainless etc bolts, I visited the Mclaren factory where they
made the F1 road car ... and had a play in one (as a passenger).
Absolutely magic sound inside, without any frills or sound deadening ...
    ;)

I also use to love the Ford RS2000 Rally cars ... ;)

At the last UKRM Camps It Up, the senior Elly-sprog cocked an ear at an

It wasn't. It was WUN approaching on the V-Max...

I listened to a tune the otherday called F2000 (I think it was trance
or summat?) it incorporates some amazing screaming engine note's.
some race meeting to the innitial sound of a single bike engine
getting warmed up in the paddock bbbrrrrrryanng bbbrrrryaang
bbbrrrryang bbbrrryang (sp) etc etc Then more and more join in as ya
