Almeria to Granada via the sierra nevada sticks in my mind.

Cheers, that could be handy. We usually aim to do around 400kms/day if
you know of any suitable routes.

  3. Well, the road up to Sierra Nevada was the first that sprang to my mind.
    Excellent for the knee-down brigade.

  4. Depends if you're coming down south. If not, you'll have to rely on Domenec.

    Definitely not comparable, dude.

Can I chip in the D290 between Vallon-Pont d'Arc and Saint Just?

Up and down the Ardeche Gorge as many times as one likes before one runs
out of go-juice/tyres are fucked/you crash.

    Ooh, yeah...
Ahh, memories... That's the one that poor JC missed out on due to his
not feeling too good when we reached Nice in 2001. Myself, Suze and Fwag
did it and it is still favourite with me. Coming down toward Jausiers
we encountered several kms of unpaved road which was jolly good fun on
    sportsbikes.

ISTR we raced a bunch of Germans down the mountain.

Heh. I need to do the Col du Petit St.Bernard again 'cause the miserable
bastards at the border never gave me a sticker last time.
    ;-)
Well, make sure I'm on the copy list for "next year's trip" 'cause I've
got a major hankering for pissing off sprotsbike riders on some of them
    roads.

Indeed. Quite interesting looking at all the pistes down the 'Face',
as well as the big wide fields the far side of Tommeusses over towards
Tignes. Shame the top of the Grande Motte was in cloud, though.

    Perzackerly.

It used to be (presumably still is) a round, self-adhesive device with a
cartoon St.Bernard dog and (I think) a balloon.
    Heh...Not /all/ sprotsbike riders, mind...

My g/f at the time wasn't up for it, and we shared costs of hiring a car
for the day with a kiwi couple who were staying at the same hotel as us.

I swore I'd return on a bike. The road downhill from Granada to the coast
is breathtaking too, long fast sweepers all the way.

Scary point on the return leg along the coast when we passed through
fogbanks, and at one point had another road parallel to us on the right.
For one horrible minute I thought I was on the wrong side of the dual
    carriageway...
