the bends the bends....

  1. there's a motorway interchange just up the road from me, that, I've used
a few times and thought could be interesting, from a knee down perspective.

Looked at it on the map yesterday, and **** me if it isn't a fab piece
of road! It's dual carriage way in width, with a sloid white line down
the middle - ie one land and a 'hard shoulder'.

    www.darkwings.co.uk/bends.jpg (120k)

Start at the bottom right, on the RHS of the road, and take the second
exit (ie the top one of the little loops in the middle). From there, you
can plot your way around in a continuous double figure 8 looping session.

Hours and hours of endless fun!

Only one slight problem, there's no right handers. That'd **** up 99%
    of UK riders.

I meant left handers, in which case ignore everything in my previous
    post.

Today is Saturday, not a day for thinking.

Oops, I didn't notice the last sliproad just off the right side of the

I'll have to play there if I ever get to visit the company headquarters
    again.

That seems to lack the element of continuity. You can't apparently
just keep circulating. Whereas here you can:[/QUOTE]

Actually, you can. You go on a bit of the freeway to get to the next
circle, then over the top and repeat.

Nowhere near as good, but I've been known to play here occasionally:

    <http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ll=51.094161,1.049935&spn=0.007634,0.009917&t=k&hl=en>

Top circular north takes you to "Stone Street" to Canterbury, west is
M20 London bound, east M20 Coastbound.

Bottom roundabout goes nowhere. The road going off east between the
two roundabouts was put in when they moved the roads for the Channel
Tunnel Rail Link. This means that the roundabout there is kinda
redundant as the road coming from the west is the A20 from Ashford and
the only exit from it is north to the other roundabout or back where
    you just came from.

In the evenings you can select the larger circular and go around it or
hamster around the bottom one until one wears ones tyres out.

  15. In uk.rec.motorcycles, BGN amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
    Is it really that "redundant"?

I've yet to find a decent roundabout I can go round backwards, I.e, the
wrong way round. I'd love to get the left hand edge of my rear tyre
    rippled up :)

I just found another over here that's not made of cobblestones. It's
only 40' in diameter, but it's fun.

It is in the evening. You can see how open the area is, so if it were
late at night you would be able to identify anyone coming from a great
distance and correct your rotation. I have seen someone going around
it anticlockwise before, but didn't think they were scrubbing the left
    of their tyres.

If you come around the Kent area much in your artic you've probably
gone right past it. It's M20 Junction 11.
