folk
ambient

I said 'just about' not all, so obviously there will be certain genres
that aren't able to trace their roots back to black origins. I wouldn't
call 'folk music' modern either, not unless your name is Auvache.

There are two ways of looking at the term 'Music Of Black Origin'

- Music in a genre derived from black culture
- Music from black people

The latter usually has some overlap with the former, so it's hardly
surprising there are more black winners than white.

But honestly, who gives a toss? How edgy do you have to be to worry
about the hidden meaning in a pretty meaningless awards ceremony?

There are plenty of country music awards which I'd class as MOWOs.
Rock'n'roll, being a blend of country, is essentially of mixed
black and white origin (country and blues) - sounds fine to me

Blues was the first commercial form of folk, which makes use of guitar
(murderous Arab invention) and Banjo (lazy N*gger invention)

Club music, developed from Disco, which has it's roots in soul, which has
it's roots in Blues, which.........

You hit the nail on the head. Racism was invented in collaboration by
a) inadequate people who needed an excuse for being under achievers
and
b) underachievers who needed to blame someone for their inadequacies.

This idea has now been highjacked by
a) people who have a chip on their shoulder
and
b) people who need some some simplistic cause to satisfy their misguided
urge to do something worthwhile.

 

Personally, having grown up in Malta, Germany & Eire, with Welsh, English,
German & Polish Grandparents, as well as having as US and Hong Kong Chinese
Sister-in Laws, I still find some British humour confusing. But that doesn't
stop me from distrusting bloody foreigners. (and everyone else)

UK traditional folk music by far predates blues

 

And the Lute certainly wasn't an arab invention. In fact, I doubt that any
singular musical instrument can be hailed as the invention of any single
particular culture.
